A very big happy new week to us all. Welcome to my blog as well as the Season 13, Week 5 of the Steemit Engagement Challenge. We have been handling the previous week entertaining, educating and competitive, I believe this week won't be an exception.

That being said, the title of this week engagement challenge over here is "How Can Alcohol Cause Damage To Your Health! 🍺". We all know it's not a sin to take alcohol, but then it becomes a life threatening offence when it is not taken in a considerate amount. If it is taken till he point one gets drunk, this is when it starts posing threat to our health system, so permit me to tip in my 10 cent on this.

When Can We Say That A Person Is An Alcoholic?

A person is said to be Alcoholic if they get obsessed about alcohol. People who develops this undying love for alcohol can be seen as being alcoholic. Also, in a very clear terms, being alcoholic also extends to people who gets intoxicated by alcohol, or who drinks alcohol to the point of being drunk.

However, some people might not be addicted to alcohol but if they get to take an overdose of it, they can be seen as being alcoholic. Though being alcoholic can be a disorder thereby causing it victims to have this serious urge for alcohol, but then it can be corrected.

Do You Think Alcohol Is A Drug? Justify Your Answer

Alcohol is as a matter of fact considered as a Drug because it shares similar working effect as Valium that acts as suppressant. By this, I mean alcohol has the tendency of suppressing ones emotion and brain functionality. So by this, we can say for sure that it is not just considered but it is a drug on it own.

The only reason people don't see alcohol as drugs is the normalizing of it intake, this I mean, people at some point don't consider alcohol as drugs because it could be taken without prescription, it could be bought at clubs, bars and even stalk shops, so people see little to nothing close to it being a drug, but that is very unhealthy to the society as it has been doing more harm than good.

Can Alcoholism Be Considered A Disease? How To Control It!

Firstly, to the best of my knowledge, I would say a big Yes. Anything whatsoever that poses a threat to our health is considered a disease, so alcoholism is never left out. By this I mean, since excessive intake of alcohol can at some point kill it victim, then, ofcourse we should consider it a disease.

Secondly, alcoholism can be a disorder known as Alcoholic Use Disorder (AUD). Though some people tend to categorize it as Moral Misconduct, but then, it goes more than being this to a disorder that prompt it victim to have a high urge for excessive intake of alcohol and can only be remedy through rehabilitation treatment, so then, since requires treatment, then it is nothing short of a disease. It could be controlled by the following ways;

• Say no to alcohol if you are one that gets easily intoxicated by chemical mixtures.

• Do not try using it as suppressant, ask for medical attention if you are depressed or having health issues.

• Be sure to drink a considerate amount of need be.

• Ask for help from a therapist or a counsellor if you are already addicted to it.

Is Every Drinker Considered An Alcoholic?

To the best of my knowledge, not every drinker is alcoholic, those who drink responsibly can't be seen as alcoholic. Infact, there are those who drink everyday but do not develop any symptoms of alcoholism, these are those whose brain and nervous systems are being built to stand against the toxicity of alcohol. And then to those who drink considerate amount of alcohol, these also should be be seen as alcoholics.

hey @megareigns I completely agree with your perspective on the classification of alcohol as a drug and the societal factors that contribute to its perception. It's crucial to recognize the potential harm and impact on both individuals and society as a whole.

I enjoyed reading your post, and must say that you did a great job. Also, I like the term "those who drink responsibly", because it actually takes some level of responsibility to keep of the effect of alcoholism. To become an alcoholic would mean you abusing the intake of alcohol and/or be addictive to it in some/many ways.
Good luck with this entry publication

You have explained questions from different angle both morally as well socially. The impact of various dosage of consumption and its effect on health is also very nicely explained. Wish a all the best and good luck for the contest.

By this, I mean alcohol has the tendency of suppressing ones emotion and brain functionality. So by this, we can say for sure that it is not just considered but it is a drug on it own.

yes alcohol has a way of suppressing one's emotion and that is why people that are depressed takes this harmful substance into their body and I also agree with you that excessive alcohol is a disease. Excessive intake of alcohol is no doubt a disease that affects us emotionally, physically and socially
