Hello everyone, here is my participation on a Contest Alcohol and your Health here in health steem published by @sahmie.
Though many sees alcoholic drink in deferent ways, that's why here in my post I am gonna share my thoughts and what I know about alcohol in relation to our health.
Alcohol is a chemical compound extract from the fermentation of any starchy products/sugars by yeast or bacteria. It is mostly consumed in as alcoholic beverages like beer, wine, and spirits.
It is mostly mixed with ethanol with a chemical formula of C2H5OH.
Alcoholism is one of the a chronic problem many are facing due to the inability to control or stop drinking alcohol despite negative effects. It is a serious circumstance that can lead to physical and organically dependence on it. Alcoholism can have harmful effects on an our health, relationship and our wellbeing. Self-control and support are always necessary to avoid alcoholism.
Alcohol is traditional and cultural Identity My Ibibio culture and we have verious traditional alcoholic beverages that are deeply rooted in their ancestry and are considered as an important part in our identity especially on occasion like marriage ceremony.
Drink like Chelsea, lord and others,these beverages often have historical and cultural significance, and their production and consumption are tied to our tradition and customs.
Yes, alcohol can said to be useful to humans medically with someone reason proved through observation, but it is advisable to consume in moderation, most time it is applied when taking herbal/native medication.
Study prove that alcohol has blood thinning properties which helps to prevent the formation of blood clots, which can reduce the risk of stroke and other bad health conditions.
Some said that alcohol somtimes have social and mental benefits when consumed it responsibly, they said that It help them relax, reduce restraint, and promote social interactions.
Alcohol has many health implications to the human.
- Liver damage: taking alcohol in excess always lead to liver diseases like fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis and cirrhosis as health professionals proved.
- Mental health issues: alcohol sometimes contribute to the development of mental health disorders e.g depressionand alcohol addiction as health professionals proved.
- Accidents and injuries.
- Nutritional deficiency
- Weak immune system
- Cancer
- Cardiovascular problems e.g high blood pressure, heart disease and strokes.
it is very important to note that excessive alcohol consumption do have harmful effects on health such as, liver damage, addiction on it, increased risk of accidents, and various many other health issues.
Therefore, it is advisable we take it in moderation when considering the it potential medical benefits. Thank you all for your time reading this article.

Alcohol on its own is bad, we only need to take it in moderation, not becoming an addict because that can be harmful to us.
