How calcium is beneficial for good health.


Calcium is very important for our good health, it's plays many vital roles in our body. Allow me to list below ways calcium is beneficial to our good health:


  • Calcium is considered as one of the primary component of teeth and bones, which contributes to thier strength and structure. Adequate taking of calcium during childhood and adulthood helps in reducing the high risk of fractures and osteoporosis later in life, it's also helps in achieving peak bone mass.

  • Calcium really helps in muscle function. Calcium helps in relaxation and muscle contraction. It's helps in releasing neurotransmitters which allows the muscles to move efficiently.

  • When it's come to blood clotting, calcium is very crucial for that. Calcium helps platelets to form clots, and prevent too much bleeding during trauma or injury.

  • High level of adequate calcium is needed for maintaining healthy nervous systems. It's gives proper communication between nerve cells and also helps in facilitating different body functions like sensation, cognition and movement


  • For many enzymes to function properly, it's needs calcium as a cofactor. These enzymes are involve in multiple metabolic processes which includes DNA synthesis, protein metabolism and energy production.

  • Taking calcium helps in regulating blood pressure levels. Calcium plays a vital role in maintaining blood vessels and promoting vasodilation which can lead to low blood pressure.

It's is very important to intake calcium adequately through a balanced diet that includes diary products like canned fish, fortified foods and vegetables

  • Yogurt, cheese, milk and other dairy products. There's diary products are very excellent source of calcium. Go for non fat or low fat options when it's possible

  • Leafy greens vegetables such as collard greens, broccoli, kale and spinach. There's vegetables are very rich in calcium and other nutrients.


  • opt for fortified plant based milk like almond milk, oat milk they are fortified with calcium.

  • Salmon and sardines are very rich in calcium not only calcium they are also rich in Omega 3 fatty acids

  • Sesame seeds, these seeds are very good in calcium, it's can be sprinkled on foods or to baked goods.

  • Almonds, many people see almonds as a nutritious snack, but it's contains a good source of calcium.

  • Opt for fortified breakfast cereals, many cereal breakfast now are fortified with calcium, but be sure to check labels to find option that mention calcium fortification.

Don't forget to take vitamin D, it's helps the body utilize calcium. You can obtain vitamin D through exposing yourself to sunlight, supplement and fortified foods

  • Like I mention earlier, calcium is important for maintaining healthy and strong bones. A situation where the body doesn't have enough calcium it's can result in brittle and weak bones, which can leads to increase risk of osteoporosis and fractures

  • Calcium is essential for muscle relaxation and contraction. A deficiency of calcium in the body can lead to spasms, muscle cramps and muscle weakness

  • Deficiency of calcium calcium can cause dental problems. Calcium is needed for teeth gums and healthy teeth. Lack of calcium intake may increase the risk of gum disease, tooth decay and weakened enamel.

  • Deficiency of calcium can cause Rickets in children. Ricket is a condition which leads to weak and soft bones. It's can also lead to delay motor development, stunted growth and skeletal deformities

To maintain a healthy life it's very essential for us to consume as much calcium as we can. I believe I have been able to give answers to the above questions.
