SEC-S13/W4| "The Role of the Caregiver ♥️ "

INTRODUCTION

A caregiver plays a crucial or important role by supporting the well-being and quality of life of those in need. The work of a person called A caregiver is to assist or provide care for people that can't perform their task as they should. A care giver can be a family member or close friends. There's a lot of work to do as a caregiver.

Have you played the role of caregiver or do you know someone who has put it into practice? Tell us about it.

Yes, I've played the role of a caregiver. Working as a caregiver by assisting my best friend last year was so so stressful. He had an accident and was unable to walk alone, eat alone even to use the restroom. I had to do assist him perform all those task, to be honest it wasn't easy but my greatest joy is that he's sound and strong now.

Do you think that caring for a sick person should be a team effort or the work of a single person?

Caring for a sick person should be a team work. People who care for a sick person do get tired at times, so leaving this work for one person is not advisable. Like that my best friend, i didn't perform all the tasks alone, his junior brother and his mother also helped, if i was the only one assisting or taking care of him, maybe i would have stopped because it was so stressful and took my time as well.

Another reason why caring for a sick person requires team work is that we're all struggling to survive now, so we have to hustle so as to survive. Leaving the job for one person, how do you expect him or her to hustle so as to survive too? I normally visit my friend 3 times a week, then the rest of the days i go to work while his relatives take over the job, so it's always a team work.

What qualities do you think a caregiver should have?

• Love
• Patience
• Good communication skills

Love
Love is that complex and multifaceted emotion that can take on many forms. Love is what makes us do things that's beyond our power and limit. This quality is very crucial in one's life. If i didn't have love for my friend, maybe i wouldn't have sacrificed my time every week for him.

Patience
Another good quality here is patience. Caring for sick people requires patience because of their slow performance while on sick bed. It wasn't easy for me taking care of my friend, i needed to exercise patience because anytime he wants to use the rest room he'll spend more than 30mins because of his health, i had to wait outside and be sure he's fine.

Good communication skills
People in that condition needs someone to share their grief with. If we have a good communication skills, the sick person will enjoy the moment and it'll as well relief him or her of the pains.

What advice would you give to a person who is performing this role?

My advice for the person performing this role is that he or she should continue with the care because what goes around comes around, the reward awaits you.

CONCLUSION

Though the role of a caregiver isn't easy, when we posses those 3 qualities ( Love, patience, good communication skills) we'll find it a bit easy to assist and take care of our loved ones or those in need of our help. Take care of the weak and you'll be fully rewarded by our creator.
