Salutations my esteemed steemians. I'll like to use this opportunity to give accolades to our health professionals. They're the underrated and unsung heroes in the world, because our health is in good hands when we're in their custody. They work tirelessly behind the doors and curtains to make sure they treat, diagnose and heal us when it's necessary.
Health is very crucial, the same way getting to know our health professional is. I'm really delighted to join this contest organized by one of the humble moderator and active user on Steemit in person of @sahmie. Let's shine the spotlight....
What makes someone a health professional? |

Before someone is regarded as a health professional, there are some qualifications and standard required from the person. Education is the first qualification that can define someone a health professional. When I talk about education, i mean advancing to the highest institution not tertiary institution. An SSCE graduate can't wear a uniform of the health team and call himself or herself a health professional.

Let's say someone wants to be a doctor or nurse, the person must get his or her degree or diploma from any healthcare related institution or health sciences. People spent 7 years in most of this institution, just to get this degree and be called health professional. In my city, we have this institution called School of nursing.
It's a healthcare related institution which helps individuals to get their qualifications and entitled to be a health professional. After spending couple years in this institution, they'll be given a licence to certify that they're competent for the job. That's one of the things that makes one a health professional.

| Physicians | Physicians are medical doctors that treat and diagnose a patient. They also conduct physical exams by prescribing drugs for patients and specialising on surgery. |
| Physical therapist | Therapists are always amazing, they're skilled and talented. They help a patient recover from injuries and improving their strength with just words of the mouth. |
| Pharmacist | A pharmacist pescribe drugs for patient and give guidelines on how to take it without abusing it. |
| Dentist | The dentist diagnose and treat teeth and mouth disorders. |
| Surgeon | A surgeon helps patient to recover from their disease or illness through surgery. |

A surgeon is my favourite health professional. Their work is to get rid of disease or any illness in a patient in form of surgery. They're my favourite health professional because they work as if their life depends on it, I'm saying this out of experience. The picture above is my surgeon friend by name Victoria.
She doesn't joke with her work, she doesn't visit the theatre with her smartphone and I've never heard of negative news since she started working as a surgeon. She makes me proud, she makes me develop interest and love for this area of health professionals. They're my favourite health professional because they saved my aunty who was suffering from inflamed appendix. All hope was gone, but it was revived through the surgeon. I owe them.
If you were allowed to be a healthy professional, which would you choose and why? |

I'll choose to be a therapist and giving helping hands to the depressed, supporting patient's mental and emotional well-being. I love the way therapist do their work when watching some Nigerian movies. They dress corporate, just the way I'm appearing up there. I choose a therapist because there's no blood involved when helping a patient, all I'll need is my skill, experience and ability to provide guidance and support to patients and their loved ones.
To sum up, we should celebrate our health professionals, who are the unsung heroes in the world because this will boost their morale and promote a positive work environment.

Truly speaking my friend, health professionals need our support, and I would love to be a health professional maybe in my second degree if possible, I love your surgeon their dressing is what makes me admire them, you can't be a health professional my friend if you don't want see blood, a therapist is what you choose, good for you. I am so happy you aunty was saved by surgeons, surgeons are like saviour to us. I wish you all the best here, I would love to participate here too if chanced. Thanks for inviting me
