Choices! What will it be? #39

Wishing everyone a good day and my best wishes to all. The reason I'm here today is to participate in📣 “ Choices! What will it be? #39”. Steem For Ladies Community and Madam @patjewell for arranging such an amazing contest. These types of contests help us to participate in new challenges and represent our creativity. Among the five topics, I choose the first one Postman.

By reading the word Postman first the scenario that comes to our mind is a person who is wearing a Khaki color uniform, riding on a bicycle, and holding a lot of letters. He is a fourth-class government employee. He works in the post office. From door to door, he delivers letters, parcels, and money orders through his bicycle. All over the day, he is going in a busy schedule and has to face many challenges. In our society, his role is very important to us. Now in our metropotian city, we very rarely see the postman. In our native language, he is also called “Dak Peon”.

In my country, a postman's working time starts from 9 am to 2 pm. Whether it is hot, rainy season, or winter he has to remain busy doing his duty tirelessly. He separated all the letters and parcels by region and then put stamps on as per the received date.

Then he picks all the letters, and parcels and prepares to deliver to their destination. By roaming through on roads he may have sweated in hot weather or may have wet in rain or may feel cold in winter but he has to finish his duty no matter what. After receiving a letter or parcel when the receiver gets overwhelmed with emotion the postman also gets emotional. Besides when he passes bad or sad news to the receiver also brings tears to his eyes.

In our village most of the people are illiterate. They can not read the letters properly and in these circumstances, our postman helps the people. He not only distributes the letter but also reads out it to the receiver. He never feels tried to do this rather he does this with lots of joy. In fact if the receiver wants to reply to the sender this man also helps him to do this. This postman becomes a family person of the villagers.

In the early ages when there was no communication way the postman played an important role in our society. From distant places, people connect with their family, nearest friends, and relatives through letters or postcards. For any urgency people used to send telegrams to their nearest one. In those days people eagerly for the Postman, and when they see him their hearts are filled with joy.

In our modern life with the use of various kinds of gadgets, the use of letters, postcards, and telegram are decreased. People are using mobile messages or emails to communicate with one another rather than writing letters by handwritten. Using these electronic gadgets, also helps us to relate with others without any delay. Through these devices, people can send money, online gifts, and soft-copy documents without spending hours or delay. The essential documents like admission cards, results, appointment letters, government papers, and declaration letters still come through the post office and are delivered through the postman.

A postman's life is always a struggle. His income is so low and he has to live from hand to mouth. He has to move to many remote places. He has to go through forests, jungles, field after field, broken roads, and many paths where we do not feel comfortable going. He is a very hardworking person, honest, and punctual person.

In the end, I can say that the postman never gets the much appreciation that he deserves. He never gets any promotion or gets any chances of getting a promotion. He can not fulfill his or his family members' needs. So we should show our respect towards them and be compassionate. The government should look kindly on them and provide government allowances or grants to ease their way of life.
