The Diary Game | 17th of March, 2024 | Our short trip to Morapitiya
Hello Everyone!
I hope you are doing well...
It was the 15th of March.
It was the 17th of March. It was a sudden plan to visit one of our friends' homes this Sunday. The day before, I had a tiring day, and waking up was the most challenging part of the day. Somehow, I Woke up when my alarm rang at 5.00 am. I asked my husband to wake up with me, as we had not packed anything for the journey. With his help, I was ready to leave home by 7.30 am. Mornings are always tough as we need to prepare food for our little one and gather all the other essentials for the day away from home.
We stopped for breakfast at Hela Bojun. The food was amazing. I wondered why we never stopped before. We had passed this place several times, but we never got a chance to visit. It offers all the traditional foods that we crave to eat. All were fresh and sold at a very cheap rate.
It was around noon when we arrived at our destination. We were warmly welcomed by our friend and his family. Despite the heat, we were very much thrilled by the surroundings, including the spacious garden they had. Before having our lunch our friend suggested having a dip at the beautiful waterfall named Athweltota Pilithuda Ella. Due to heat, There was very little water but still, nature did wonders. The place was scenic and was a great place to enjoy our time with friends.
We returned home for lunch, feeling more exhausted due to the extreme heat. Little Vihan had already fallen asleep after playing in the water. We rested a bit after completing our lunch. Our next plan was to visit an ancient temple known as Pahiyangala. Once the baby was awake we were ready to go. It was about a 20-minute drive from our friend's home.
After reaching the temple, we had to climb a stone stairway to reach the cave. The highlight of this temple was the enormous rock cave, which belonged to the prehistoric era. Unexpectedly, It was a wonderful opportunity to visit the largest rock cave in Asia and to witness where our ancient civilizations were. It was one of the greatest archeological sites in Sri Lanka, and we noticed that all underground tunnels were blocked for research purposes. There was also a huge sleeping Buddha statue. We worshipped freely and headed back home as it was already getting dark.
We ended our day by visiting the Makeli Ella waterfall on the way home. Although the waterfall was not very tall, it looked wide and scary. We visited a viewpoint where we could enjoy the beauty of the waterfall. After spending a few minutes at the waterfall we returned to our friend's home.
The parents of our friend were kind and loving. They quickly prepared dinner for us. It was Kiri Roti. Unfortunately, I missed taking pictures of the delicious dinner. But the taste of the meal was unforgettable. It tasted so good after a long tiring day. The journey began with less anticipation that our day would be this fun visiting our friend's home. We had a lovely time meeting his family and are grateful for everything they did for us. With so much gratitude in our hearts, we headed back to our home in Belihuloya.
