Building bridges while traveling on the journey of life...

As the saying goes... life is a journey, enjoy the ride.

Life is a beautiful journey that is full of ups and downs. Along the way, we meet different people, face different situations, and travel different paths. As we were driving to church last Sunday, I sat staring at the road, remembering my grandpa who once told my grandma that he wonders where all these people are driving to and my grandma, who answered that they are all driving to their destiny.

As I looked ahead, I, for the first time, took notice of the bridges that crossed the roads we were driving on. I could not stop wondering about the bridges we build in our lives.

In order to make a journey smooth and enjoyable, we need to build bridges. It is the same in our lives. We need to build those bridges.

The first bridge I took notice of was at an intersection of roads, and it reminded me of the bridges we have to build to create connections and maintain relationships with the people around us. These can be our family, our friends, our colleagues at work, and yes, also the people we meet here on Steemit.

When you build this bridge of connection, it means being open-minded, empathetic, and respectful towards others. Best of all, it means understanding that everyone has their own unique experiences, challenges, and perspectives. Something that we so often miss and forget.

Building bridges also means being proactive and taking action to achieve our goals and that is what the next bridge reminded me of. The advertising board on the bridge reminded me of the realistic targets we need to set at the beginning of each year. The development of a plan to reach those goals and targets, and the hard work that awaits to make our dreams a reality.

Building this type of bridge also means being persistent, resilient, and adaptable in the face of obstacles. As we all know, no life is without obstacles. It also reminded me of what I read earlier in the week during my quiet time: that there will always be good times and bad times in life, but everything on earth has an ending. We just need to look at the grass around us to know it.

There were some old and some new bridges to be seen. I saw a bridge freshly repaired after half of it was washed away during last year’s floods. For months, we could not travel on this road due to this “broken” bridge. We had to travel on the highway paying toll fees. Is this different from some of the bridges we build on our journey? I don’t think so. So often we also feel broken due to the loss of a loved one, not knowing where the next meal might come from, or broken through the decisions we made.

I don’t know about you, but toll fees have been paid in abundance in my life. All that we can do is carry on and slowly but surely start with the repairs.

Finally, our destination, our home town, was in sight and the last bridge could be seen in the distance. We had an enjoyable journey with music and laughter that filled the car. I was thankful and reminded that building bridges means taking care of ourselves. It means prioritizing our physical, emotional, and mental health, making time for those laughs.

It also means taking time to rest, relax, and recharge. It means being kind, compassionate, and forgiving, not only towards others but also ourselves. A reminder that arriving safely depends on us.

There is no doubt in my mind that building bridges in our lives is essential for our personal growth, our happiness, and, for sure, our success. So, let's start building bridges today and make our journey through life a fulfilling and rewarding one.
