Stapler

A stapler is an important tool used to fasten sheets of paper together with the help of metal staple. Stapler is also used to bind the books. Actually there are two types of staplers a handy stapler used to fasten the papers and a big stapler machine used to bind the big books.

Invention of stapler

In the 19th century when the use of paper was enhanced then there was a need to have a fastener which could fasten the paper to each other. At that time the concept of the stapler came into being. They devised a fastener which could be bend and could fasten the papers easily.

Having this concept the people started their work and it continued untill they became successful about the invention of a bendable stapler which was able to fasten the papers easily. Then they continued to make it more useful to fasten hard and thick papers, books and cards. So in the 19yh century the stapler was developed which could use metal wire to pinch and fasten the papers easily.

After this the production of the modern stapler came into being. And after a lot of work and developments a four way stapler was introduced. It could staple the papers, wood, cardboard, as well as pliers of the bags. It was very large in size.

As the time passed the stapler became more comfortable and easy to use and in a smaller size. Nowadays different types of staplers are available from handy staplers to big staplers.

Common types of Stapler

As I mentioned earlier that nowadays different types of staplers are being used. Some common types of Stapler are given below:

• Paper stapler: These staplers are small in size and you can say like handy staplers which are used to fasten small amount of papers. These staplers use small size pins. These staplers are often used in the offices, schools, and colleges. Students also have their own individual small stapler to bind the test sheets.

• Books stapler: These staplers are of comparatively bigger in size. These have a big spring. These staplers use large metal pins. We have options to use different pins to bind books having different thickness. These staplers are used at the professional level.

• Electric Stapler: Electric Stapler is very useful type of a stapler. It is used for the fastest working. It is used at the industrial scale.

• Surgical stapler: These are very important and useful staplers which are used by the surgeons. These staplers are used to fasten the tissues. These staplers are used in the hospitals in the operation theater. Their use is sensitive.

The big stapler consists of different parts.

A handle

The handle is used to press the pins holder down to pierce the pins into the material. The pins are injected by this force and fasten the material placed under the stapler.

Pins holder

The most important part of the stapler is a pin holder which carries the pins. The pins are used from this part one by one. It has a built-in spring. This spring continuosly pushes the pins towards the nose of the staple.

Pins opening

Stapler has a specific opening for the exertion of the pins. It is made in such a way that it only allows one pin when the handle of the stapler is pressed down to fasten the material.

Opening button:

Big stapler has an opening button. This button helps to bring out the pin holder from inside the stapler. After that we can push the pins holder backward and the button will lock it again untill we press the button.

Pins folder

Folder of the pins play an important role in bending and folding the pins. This folder reverse the extra corners of the pins back towards the material and in this way the fastening becomes more strong.

Base:

Stapler has a base on which the whole stapler is built. It helps to stand the stapler straight without falling down. The pins folder is also fixed in the base of the stapler.

How I use stapler and how it helps me to earn my livelihood

Staplers are being used everywhere because of their benefits to fasten the things easily. I am a shopkeeper. And we have two types of staplers. One is the big stapler which we bought especially for the book bindings. And the second one is a small stapler which is mostly used in the office works and by the students.

I bind the books using the big stapler. Students bring their books for the binding purpose. I get the card and fix them according to the size of the book. Then I put the metal pins in the stapler according to the size of the book. After that I put the book under the stapler from where the pin will be fixed in the book. Then I press the stapler from its handle and in this way the metal pin go inside the book. Then the corners of the pins are folded by the base of the stapler so that the pins cannot be out of the books. The folding of the pins protects us from being hurt by the extra corners.

In this way I am using stapler in my daily life. For each book binding I charge some money. So it helps me to earn my livelihood.
