SEC16W3: Raising boys and girls
Personally, I think the question of whether to educate boys and girls in exactly the same way is complex and requires a nuanced approach. For me, I see that each child is unique, with their own needs, personalities and interests. While gender equality is a fundamental principle, it is also crucial to recognize and respect individual differences.
On the one hand, gendered education can perpetuate stereotypes and restrictive gender roles that limit children's opportunities, pushing them to conform to narrow social expectations based on their sex. This can lead to negative long-term consequences, such as wage inequality, disparities in professional opportunities and discriminatory attitudes.
On the other hand, it is important to recognize that boys and girls may have different needs based on their social and developmental experiences. For example, boys may be encouraged to express their emotions more openly, while girls may be encouraged to develop self-confidence and assertiveness. Ignoring these differences can lead to a one-size-fits-all approach that does not fully meet children's individual needs.
Rather than promoting a strictly uniform education, I believe it is important to foster an inclusive approach that recognizes both similarities and differences between the sexes. This involves providing children with a wide range of opportunities, skills and role models, while ensuring that expectations are not determined by the child's gender. Ultimately, the goal should be to enable every child to reach their full potential, regardless of preconceived gender norms.
With this in mind, schools and families have a crucial role to play in promoting gender equality and creating an inclusive environment where children can thrive without being limited by expectations based on their gender. . This can be done by actively encouraging diversity and making children aware of gender stereotypes, providing them with varied role models, and promoting education that focuses on individual skills and interests rather than gender differences.
In addition, it is essential to involve communities and institutions in this process. This may include efforts to raise awareness among teachers, parents and policy makers about gender issues in education, as well as policies and programs that aim to promote gender equality and combat discrimination based on genre. Ultimately, by adopting an educational approach that recognizes both gender similarity and diversity, we can create a world where all children have the same opportunity to succeed, regardless of gender.

Well said sir. The family, school and society has so much to do in promoting gender equality. The girls and boys should have equal right to play in same garden and park, make choices of playing items,. They call it freedom but I call it right. Success to you Sir!

You know, growing up, I always felt like I was treated differently from my sister. Our parents had these expectations based on our gender, and it didn't always feel fair. Looking back, I realize that every child is unique, and our upbringing should reflect that. It's like, why should boys and girls have to fit into these molds society has created? As for opportunities are concerned, both must be given equal opportunities but we must also recognise the differences between two and tailor environment to suit each of them best. The take home one liner message is , no discrimnation on the basis of gender. Isn't it?
Exactly! I remember back in school, there were these expectations of how boys and girls should behave and what they should be interested in. But that's just not how the real world works. We're all different, and that's what makes life interesting. So, instead of trying to fit everyone into the same box, we should celebrate our differences and make sure everyone feels seen and valued for who they are.
I've always believed that every child deserves a fair shot at success, regardless of whether they're a boy or a girl. When I see kids being held back by stereotypes or limited expectations, it breaks my heart. We need to create a world where everyone feels empowered to chase their dreams, no matter their gender. It's about leveling the playing field and giving every child the chance to shine. As far my experiance is concerned, modern parents are doing fair parenting. Isn't it?.
All the best.
Saludos amigo! Buen post. Es una interesante propuesta sobre la exclusividad, muy cierto, pues cada niño es diferente y merece ser atendido segun sus necesidades.
Lindas fotos, muchos éxitos 🙌
I think boys and girls need to be taught the same way all the time. Clothes never choose a person. We need to give equal rights to all boys and girls. A girl should be educated the way you raise a boy. We can improve education. I really enjoyed reading your post and sharing my opinion with you. All the best for the post @kouba01
