Hello Ladies, this is @fortwis09, I am writing to
participate in the Wonderful contest held by @ngoenyi, the creative contest.

I'm not a real fan of creative works like drawings, etc but I can do other things and I would love to share what I made with you today.

For this contest, I made a DIY crochet headband.

It was very fun and it is very easy to make though to explain it might be a little bit tough, but I'll try my best to explain it properly.

The materials needed to make it are:

  • Crochet wool

  • Crochet hook

  • Needle and thread, same color with your wool

For this project I used two different color of wools. To add beauty to it.

Please follow through the steps that I used to make it, then, view the pictures of how I did it in the picture gallery.

STEP ONE
  • The first step Is to make a slip knot so we can have where to put the hook, this done by using your thumb to wrap round the wool, then tie it so that there's a hole in the middle, you insert the hook and pull the thread to tighten it.
STEP TWO
  • The next step is to chain, so to chain you use the hook to grab the wool and pull it through the slip knot hole, and you have a chain, the bigger the knot hole the bigger your chain, so for this headband, I chained 15 times.
STEP THREE
  • The next step is to make a double crochet, to so this, you count five chains away from the hook and then you yarn over, which means wrapping the yarn around the hook, then you insert into the fifth chain, grab a yarn, and pull through one loop on the chain, yarn over pull through, two loops, then yarn over and pull through the last two loops, that's a double crochet.
You do that through the remaining chains, skipping one chain each, you should have five double crochet or more when your done.

N/B: The number of chains determines the width of the band.

STEP FOUR
  • Once you have the five double crochets, you chain three and turn over, then you do a double crochet on top the first row, which is the base, you continue until the headband can go round your head, I did 47 rolls for it to go round my own head. Yours can be more or less .
STEP FIVE
  • After completing the number of rolls that can round your head, you join the two ends together, you insert the hook into the two sides, through the first hole, then you pull a thread through it and chain one, you continue till you've done it to the end, then you pull your hook to increase the slip knot hole, then cut it in between, and pull the thread out.
    The headband is ready.
STEP SIX
  • I decided to make few decorations to the headband, two flowers and a heart In the middle with a white yarn.

  • To make the Heart, you first of all make a hole, by wrapping it twice around your hand, then using your hook to pull the second wrap, be careful not to let go of the circle, that's where the entire work will be done.

STEP SEVEN
  • For more clarification on how it will be done you can consult a YouTube video.

  • In that circle you chain two then do one treble crochet, which Is like a double crochet but you yarn over twice and pull through two loops three times to have one, you treble crochet thrice, and them double crochet thrice, chain one and repeat the same thing but start with one double crochet, chain one, then Three double crochet, and three treble crochet.

  • You then tighten the circle and slip stich to have your heart.

STEP EIGHT
  • To make the rose, you chain 25 and then skip one chain and do a single crochet, you don't need to yarn over, just insert into the chain hole, pull through, yarn over and pull through lastly.
Do that all through the chain, without skipping anyone.
STEP NINE
  • To make the petals need concentration, you should have 24 single crochet, when you're done. We will make, large medium sized and Small sized petals to get a rose, first, you do five double crochet, in one single crochet stitch, it will form a petal, then you slip stich into the nest stich, you should have five large petals.

  • Then for medium petals, you do five half double crochet in one stitch, slip stich into the next and do that to have four medium sized petals.

  • You will see your rose beginning to take shape, then for the small petals, you do five single crochet in one stitch, and you do that to have three small petals. You pull your hook cut your thread and you have your rose.

I did two roses.

LAST STEP
  • Join the petals together and then use the needle and thread to attach them to the hair band, to make it more pretty
BONUS STEP
