Choices! What Will It Be? #35

After publishing my first post on Steemit, (Achievement 1) I looked through again and observed that something was missing. What was that?

They were the necessary tags that was needed to make my post visible.... They were like the golden ticket to make my post reach my intended audience..

In the digital world, words have become labels. With a single click, you can search for a word, and get results/contents related to it, bringing people all over the world together who share a common interest. It seems like exploring a virtual World full of words that joins you to others, each word an entrance into another world. As you search, you discover new friends, events, contents and communities all united by a simple symbol - # known as hashtags.....

What is hashtags??

Hashtags are the secret spice of social media, the little words which makes a post more visible to the right audience. They're like keywords which helps the social media users find content that's relevant to their interest and niche.

It is easy to use, just type the main sign (#) followed by a phrase or single word and you're good to go!! It is an easy way to join a conversation and to connect with other people on a platform... For example on social media platforms like Facebook, X, Instagram and others you can use the hashtag #trending to find things which are currently trending...

Types of hashtags

There are very different types of hashtags one can come across on the social media. The major few are

• Branded hashtags: These are hashtags that are mainly used to promote brands or products l. It can be Fashion brand, food brand, entertainment and any kind of brand at all .....
• Community hashtags: This type of hashtag is used for bringing people together who have similar interests. It is just used to connect a certain set of people...
• Event hashtags: As the name implies, "events". It is used to share experience and documentaries about specific online or offline events. For example the Spotify end of year award is connected to the #spotifywrapped2023.
• Trending hashtags: These are the most used type of hashtag on any kind of social media platform. It is used to share experience about trending topics on anything, be it fashion, events, community and more... With a single tap on #trending, #fyp or #viral you can get to see the current trends

Hashtags on Steemit

Users of Steemit, a decentralized Social Media platform also makes use of hashtags which serves the sane purpose on other platforms. Like I earlier said, when I published my achievement 1 post, I forget to add the needed tags #introduceyourself #introduction #newcomer #steemit #nigeria. But I quickly added them when my mentor asked me to do so, to make my post visible for verification.. If you have been using the Steem pro app, you would notice that a post can not be uploaded without a single hashtag, to show you how important it is on the platform.

On Steemit, there are four major hashtags that must be seen on a post.

• The steemexclusive tag: Every post on Steemit are meant not to be published anywhere else by rules. Therefore one must use the #steemexclusive to show that the content can be found only on Steemit.
• The country tag: Each users of Steemit have different nationality. To represent your country and receive support (not guaranteed), there is need to add your country name after the sign (#). For me I use the #nigeria since I am a Nigerian....
• Club tag: The club initiative on Steemit has made it more easy for steemians to earn support and grow their Steem power. Before you can belong to a club you must do the needful which is powering up 50 % of your earnings to be in club5050, powering up 75% of your earnings for two months to be in club75 and finally power up all your earnings for three months to be in club100. I'm currently in club5050 so I always use the #club5050 in my posts.
• The burnsteem25 tag: This is a tag that helps you to be noticed for delegating 25% of your earnings to the @null account to grow Steem.. you must set the 25% to @null before you can use the tag unless that you're abusing it.

There are also different tags on Steemit which includes the contest tags, newcomer tags and the rest of them..

• Contest tags are used to easily locate posts on a particular contest. It is usually the first tag, but when you set 25% to @null, it becomes the second. This content you're reading is for the contest - "Choices! What will it be? #35 so I used the main Hashtag #choices
• Newcomer tag: The newcomer tag is meant for users who are 0-3 months old to receive support from Steemcurator09.

Importance of hashtags

Hashtags are important for so many reasons..

First It is important because it helps users to find contents related to their interest. Like Steemit, every community participating in the engagement challenge has a specific hashtag for every week to track the records. Hashtags also helps content creator to reach the targeted Audience..

Second, hashtags are very helpful tools to increase engagement on social media. When users see a hashtag they are interested in they're more likely to engage by liking, sharing, comment and more ...

Conclusion

Hashtags are very important tools on social media platforms (including Steemit). They have a few importance but huge impact as the case may be. Your van explore your personal interest by using the pound sign (#) with a word or phrase in relation to the community, brand or content. Remember to make good use of it, don't use too many hashtags, it may make the post seem irrelevant.

So when next you're making a post on Facebook, Instagram, X and Steemit, don't forget your Hashtags..
