Choices! What will it be? #33

Hello beautiful ladies,it is weekend already! This is another time for us to make our choice, l am ready to make a great choice Love be me. My choice is SNAIL🐌.Although many people in different places dislike this choice, personally l like it because it has a lot of health benefits to human and the ecosystem.

I can't forget in a hurry how we normally use flashlight to hunt for snail in the night with my friend and siblings in the village. As we all know snails are most active at night,so the best time to find them is after dark,they are cold blooded creatures and the cooler temperature at night help them to move around easily. During the day, they hide in dark moist places to avoid drying out.

Snail is actually an interesting and complex animals and it belongs to the class of Gastropoda, which includes a wide variety of mollusks. There are over 30,000 different species of snails, found all over the world, they come in different shapes and sizes, from tiny snails that can fit on a fingernail to giant snails that can grow to be over a foot long.

Snail is a wonderful creature with a soft body and a hard shell,lt has a foot that helps them to move.Snails are hermaphrodite which simple mean that they have male and female reproductive organs. Most snails are terrestrial meaning that they live on land but some live in trees and water.

Snail are most active during the spring and summer months, from April to September. This is because the warmer temperatures and increase rainfall create ideal condition for them.Snail also need a lot of moisture,so the rainy spring and summer months provide them with perfect environment.Also the longer days and more sunlight in these months allow them to be more active to reproduce more easily.

Snail can survive for a quite long time! The average life span of a garden snail is about 3-5years but some can survive till ten years.
We have different types of snail, let say more than 15 type of snail found in Africa continent. But the most common one found in Nigeria is the giant African land snail, scientifically,it is called as Achantina Fulica.

Here in Nigeria we use snail to have different delicacies,one of the most popular dish is Snail pepper soup, which is made with snail pepper, onion and other spices .Snails are also commonly fried, roasted,or grilled and served with a variety of sauce.l love white rice with snail stew.Snail is also a lucrative business,in which many people have venture into it and have lots of achievement.

Snail has a lot of health benefits to human although some tribe and region reject snail due to some myth and thier religion background.

👉 They are rich in protein,Omega-3 fatty acids and a very good source of vitamins like A,B C and E as well as mineral like calcium and iron.

👉 Regular intake of snail,help in Lowering our cholesterol,promoting heart health, and even boost your immune system.

👉 Snail extract help to reduce inflammation and fight certain type of cancer.

👉 Snail slime is a possible medicinal properties, which has potential to heal wound and reduce acne.

👉 Lastly,Snail mucus is also used in skin care products, as it can soothe and hydrated our skin.

During my health Education talk at work last week,l realize that many pregnant woman are forbidden on the consumption of snail during pregnancy due to some myth and superstition believe surrounding snail in Africa country.

It has quite beneficial for pregnant women, the high protein content can help with the baby's development and the omaga-3 fatty acids can promote brain and eye development.lt is also a good source of folate, which is important for preventing neural tube defect in the fetus.

Additionally, vitamin 12 found in snail can help prevent anemia and support both the baby and mother immune system.
As such l see snail as one of the nutritious and healthy diet for pregnant women.

Snails are a diverse and often overlooked group of animals that play an important role in the ecosystem of Nigeria.ln addition to thier many spacies, snail offer a range of benefits to humans, from nutritional value to potential medicinal properties. Dispite the many about snails, they are actually fascinating creature that deserves our attention.
