When I first started writing, what were meant to be quick introductory posts on coin collecting, I didn't expect the response and enthusiasm that has been shown. This has forced me to actually put some effort and thought into making this series of blogs as helpful as possible, so hopefully you're finding them useful?

So to catch up on the ones you've missed:

PART 1- So you want to start coin collecting?
PART 2- Strike quality
PART 3- Commonly used terms

Those of you who are already converts to coin collecting will understand the joy it can bring, whether that’s through collecting coins through change (circulated) or investing in coins from a specific producer or from your own countries Mint.

So whether you’re an avid coin collector and looking to introduce it to your friends or family, or whether your children are simply intrigued by the world of coins, I think ive put together some top tips to introduce this lifelong hobby to everyone.

Getting your friends and family collecting

Start Conversations and Share Knowledge

If you are keen to get your friends or family into coin collecting, it’s safe to assume that you already hold an interest for the hobby yourself? By sharing this hobby with someone else, it provides a brilliant opportunity to share your knowledge and demonstrate first-hand why this hobby is so fascinating. There are few things better than bonding over a shared interest in a hobby, plus spending time together can help build relationships and generate conversations as you share your knowledge.

Theme the Collection

We all choose to collect coins in many different ways, some collect by denomination, some by metal, some by specific year, to name but a few. One way to get your family and friends into coin collecting is introducing coins that feature well-known characters. There are plenty of coins featuring popular children’s characters to choose from, so find out what your friends and family enjoy and suggest those coins.

Coins featuring characters such as The Gruffalo can encourage an emotional attachment and rekindle childhood memories, making them ideal to peak an interest in coins at any age.

Introduce Responsibility

Coin collecting can introduce a sense of responsibility to your children. Explaining that the coins shouldn’t be handled or played with can be difficult for a child to understand, but provides a good learning opportunity to explain their value, and encourage care and attention. As your children grow to love their collection, a sense of responsibility can be encouraged.

It Makes Gifts Easy

If your friends and family have an interest in coins it provides you with a great gift opportunity for Christmas and birthdays. Basically, it gives you an endless opportunity to give them something they can cherish forever, for very little money, especially if you come across a specific coin in circulation they have been after for ages.

Institutes, such as The Royal Mint, offer a wide range of new coin sets every year, offering the ideal opportunity to add to a collection on an ongoing basis as well as taking the headache out of the age-old question "what should I buy..... ?"

Appreciating History

The evolution of coin design over the years can provide a great opportunity for storytelling, and captivating imaginations whilst providing an educational lesson in history and art. Telling these stories through coins can and will encourage children to both understand and appreciate history, especially here, in the UK, where cheap, historic coins can be picked up literal penny's.

Super simple sets of coins like above can be bought for £2-£4 (for circulated versions), and shows the lineage of the British thrown in an easy to understand way.

Coin collecting is a fun hobby, regardless of age and should be shared with everyone. Sometimes friends and family members don't even know they have an interest in coins.... Yet most will have noticed and have a favourite circulated coin design without even knowing. So remember, to spark interest in a new world of coin collecting, simply try asking if they have a favourite designs in circulation, or if they've noticed any new coins in their pocket change.

If you think you might have someone that wants to start collecting, why not send them my way too. I'm always here to help and hopefully, this handy little guide can also point them in the right direction.

Plus as a community of "stackers" and coin collectors, the members of the #steemsilvergold community are always here, 24/7 to give some advice and lend a hand when ever it is needed.

I've got publishers breathing down my neck constantly..... I'm just holding out for the riggt deal!! 😂🤣😂🤣

Shame #steemit doesn't value my content as much as you do my friend. Some times I wonder if it's even worth putting the effort anymore, when I see #shitposts from more established members reaching triple digits.

Nothing wrong with that at all, I theme collect too. I like to collect over priced coins from the Royal Mint that decrease in value every year. So far I'm 100%!! Nothing I've bought from them has made any money. Hahahahahaha

I somehow missed the first three, but what an awesome series for those who are wanting to learn more about collecting and stacking. Thanks for sharing as I am sure this has changed someone's world for the better! Have a wonderful afternoon!🤗👍😎

All very excellent points @welshstacker!!!
If you get the kids interested in different theme's they can relate much easier, and collecting I believe helped me to save better!
We all need to help the next generation..... 🤗
