INTRODUCTION

Hi guys, it's been so beautiful down here on steemit. Lately there had been series of contests going on here, it had been of immense motivation and inspiration to write, in case one runs out of content.

Meanwhile, i feel so delighted making this contest entry about my favourite city, josted by @bright-obias one of our latest Nigerian Representatives. This is actually his first contest hosting, and it is a beautiful one. If you missed tge contest announcement, you can find it here. The contest is very simple, just tell us about your favourite city in your country and why it is your favourite.

LAGOS CITY

Lagos City, created on 27th May 1967 is located in the South-Western part of Nigeria. It is basically a Yoruba environment but pre-dominated by people from different cities and countries who are collectively called Lagosians. It is the most popular city in Nigeria. It is the Nigerian largest urban area. Lagos has the highest population density in Nigeria and shares boundaries with the Benin Republic.

SOUND ECONOMIC BASE:

Lagos is a major financial centre for both African continent and Nigeria at large. Lagos is a global socio cultural city that attracts both Nigerians, Africa and foreigners.

Lagos has a sound economic base. Lagos is the chief financial and commercial centre in Nigeria which draws people from all works of life to itself. Lagos has attracted immigrants from all over Nigeria and beyond, including commercial entreprenuers and industries from Africa, America, Europe and Asia.

HOME OF INVESTMENTS:

Lagos is Nigeria's financial hub. Basically, almost all the banks on Nigeria has their head quarters in Lagos. Lagos is also the home of Nigeria's stock exchang.

Public and private investments are immeasurable in Lagos, it is known for it's great business, investment and job opportunities. It is said that Lagos has 70% of Nigeria's total industrial investments and 65% of it's commercial activities.

BEAUTIFUL STRUCTURES:

Lagos has some beautiful structures in it. Some of the structures are not owned Nigerians and some of them were designed to an international standard based on the owner's choice of building.

This picture below is a Church structure (Deeper Life Head Quarters Gbagada), it is very beautiful, it is designed to sit 30,000 persons at a sitting. So in Lagos, you will find several of this kindd of structurea and even more beautiful ones.

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS AND MONUMENTS:

Lagos is a tourist city. It has lots of beautiful places of relaxation and resorts. We have resort centers such as Bar Beach located at Victoria Island, Heritage Resort at Ibeju Lekki, Takwa Barly at Apapa, Lekki Beach, Kurano Waters at Victoria Island, Whispering Palms Resort, Suntan Resort Badagry, Tinubu Square, National Theatre Igamu, National Stadium, Lagos Central Mosque, Eko Tourist Beach, Lekki Resort House etc. The list goes on and on and on and on.

SECURITY:

Lagos City is safe and secured for any body to live. That is why foreigners come and live with confidence.

DISADVANTAGES IN LAGOS

OVER POPULATION:

Lagos is known for it's over population. Due to the economic benefits in Lagos, people from all places tend to migrate to lagos for greener pasture. This has resulted to over populatiin of the city. In an instance of using commercial transport, it os usually a struggle getting vehicles at some bus stops.

The picture below is a crowd i encountered one of the days i was going to catch up with a client, it was not a funny experience at all. This is Berger bus stop.

CONSTANT TRAFFIC CONGESTION:

Because of the over populated nature of the city, it tend to cause constant traffic congestion on daily basis. The congestions are always out of hand that it always leaves one frustrated at some points. So if you are on a visit to Lagos, prepare your mind to spend hours on traffic. Though at first, it is very frustrating but at some points we get used to it.

I encountered this congestion same day i went to catch up with a client, and this traffic can last as high as 5 hours and one will just be sitted at a particular spot. This is along Lagos Ibadan Express Road.

This was another traffic at Iyana Oworo bus stop, Oworoshoki. This is how the road gets congested on daily basis.

HIGH RATE OF UNEMPLOYMENT AND FRAUD:

Due to the over populated nature of Lagos City, there is a high level of unemployment. The population of people in Lagos are more than the job opportunuties in the city. The high rate of unemployment then resulted to high rate of fraud. If you are not smart you will always fall a victim of fraud. You've got to be smart in Lagos. Shine your eyes and be careful. Even in business dealings, if you are not careful, you will be frauded. That is why, the first bill board you will see while entering Lagos is having the writeup 'This is Lagos', so shine your eyes.

CONCLUSION

I have been in Lagos for just two years now since 2018. I love Lagos City. Living in Lagos has exposed me to different kind of life style and mindset. Meeting calibars of people from all places with different inspiring mindset often, is been a nice experience. I also love the environment. I love beautiful envirinments, structures and the resorts. I just love Lagos.
