INTRODUCTION

Hello guys, it's really been good down here. Thanks to @steemitblog for the variety of contests, it had really been helpful in engagements and has a way of making one not to run out of content. A great thanks to @steemcurator01, @steemcurator02, @steemcurator03 and @Steemcurator04 for their continuous efforts to see that all posts get visited. I am making this post to teach my new friends and recruits who joined Steemit not quit long through me, and they had been asking me series of questions on Steem power.

Some questions they had been asking are...

• What is the difference between Steem, Steem Dollar and Steem Power...?

• What does it mean to power-up and to power-down...?

• How can I set my post @100% power-up...?

So this post is going to answer all those questions. So follow me as we walk down through it.

STEEM POWER(SP)

This has to do with how much influence a user has in the Steem blockchain platform. The more Steem Power a user has, the more influence his comments and posts values. Steem Power is less liquid; it cannot be withdrawn any how. For you to withdraw your Steem power, you have to power down on "SP" which will take a space of 4 weeks to fully drop on your Steem.

STEEM

Steem is a crypto currency tradable token. You can trade/withdraw your Steem any time; hence it is a liquid currency on the Steem blockchain. Steem can be powered up (meaning, you transfer your Steem to Steem power) to enable you have more SP. It can as well be traded for Steem Dollar or be transferred to other accounts for exchange.

STEEM DOLLAR (SBD)

Steem Backed Dollar is a liquid currency with stable value on the Steem blockchain, and it is designed to be pegged to $1 USD. It can be traded at anytime with steem, it can also be transferred to other accounts for exchange.

POWER-UP AND POWER-DOWN

POWER-UP

This is a process whereby a user transfers/power-up his Steem to Steem Power in other to have more Steem Power. The essence of power-up is to get more voting influence on posts and comments. It also increases the user's amount of curation rewards, it grants a user an influence on Steem witness approval.

How To Power Up

• Click on the drop-down menu button beside Steem, after logging in to your wallet with your active key.

• Select power up

• Include the amount you want to power-up and click on Power-up

Congratulations, you have successfully powered up your Steem.

POWER-DOWN

This is a way of pulling down your Steem power and transferring it to your tradable liquid Steem. It takes about 4 weeks to complete a power down. Just as power-up gives a user influence on the Community, power-down makes you loose your influence proportional to how much is powered down. You can as well stop a power down when you have reached a desired power-down.

How To Power-Down

• Click on the drop-down icon beside your Steem power after logging into your wallet with your active key.

• Select Power-down.

Congratulations, you have successfully powered down your Steem power.

HOW TO SET A POST 100% POWER-UP

• Select advance setting from the down left hand side of your submit.html page where you type your post. It is good you select it before you post the article, else you wouldn't be able to edit the setup.

By default your post earning is set @50% SBD / 50% SP.

• Click on the drop-down menu icon inside the box.

• Select Power-up 100%

Congratulations, you have successfully set your post to 100% power-up.
