Introduction

It is with great excitement that we present to you yet another great project called Talking point. The aim of this project is to encourage more engagement and build stronger connections among our community members. Talking point is an open discussion activity where we look into societal challenges and contemporary issues. This project is actually a rebirth of Open Happiness, one of our old projects where we talk about selected subjects every Saturday. As we rebrand it as Talking point, we hope that our members would have their say on issues such as raising children, life experiences, views on economy, education systems, family issues, and ofcourse blockchain. The topics are endless.

Talking Point - everything you need to know about it

We have not changed much from what we use to do under Open Happiness. So here are a few things we want to bear in mind about Talking Point:

• Where we do it: Talking point starts from a discuss in the Talking Point post. It ends in the General channel of SteemAlive Discord Server. So basically, we use two platforms for it: A post where we invite you to discuss a topic using the comment section, and an open discussion on discord.

• How to do It: We will make a post and invite members to share their views and respond to other people's views using the comment section of the Talking point post. You will continuously refresh the post so that you see the new comments made by others and be able to respond. After the agreed time interacting in the post, we move over to Discord to finish the discussion there.

• Frequency: Talking point is a weekly activity that will take place every Saturday. So the very first Talking Point will happen today Saturday 25/9/2021.

• Time: The entire discussion will take 1 hour. It starts 8.30pm local time and ends 9.30pm. The first 40 minutes from 8.30pm to 9.10pm will happen on the Talking point post. The next 20 minutes from 9.10pm to 9.30pm will take place in our discord server.

• Rules: This is an open discussion, so we do not have much rules. Except that we respect other people's opinions even when they are not the same as ours. Second, we must not use abusive language or talk in a disrespectful way. We will not accept that. We need to make sure of what we say and how we say it so that we wont needlessly offend others.

• Rewards: Each participant that engages meaningfully with others will receive 1 Steem. The minimum is 5 quality comments or replies in the Talking point post. At our discretion, we will give extra Steem to those that engage more with others. Talking point should be fun and rewarding. Participants must be present both at the Talking point post and Discord.

• How to Start: Once it is 8.30pm, we will drop a link of the Talking point post in our Telegram channel so that members can access it. The host will start the discussion by making the first comment which will contain the Topic of the day's talking point. Then everyone can start responding to the issue raised.

• Host/Sponsorship: We will invite people to host the talking point for each weekend. The host will be willing to also donate to support the prize. It will be a donation. So they are free to contribute any amount of Steem. The host will be free to nominate a topic for the day. After getting approval from the admin, that topic will be used for that day.

• Excluded topics: We will discuss everything. However, we will avoid Political issues such as election candidates, separatist movements and other divisive issues.

• How to get Discord App: New comers in our community may not have the discord app. So please, go to PlayStore. Search and Download Discord. Please use your Steemit username when registering. After registering, click on our Discord Server Link Here to join SteemAlive so that you can be in the General channel for discussion. If you need help to do any of the above, please contact our admin or any older member of our community.

Conclusion

We hope that Talking Point will bring back the fun and closer interaction among our community members. We hope that it will add to our engagement quality.
