Expanding the roles of City Coordinators - Introducing SteemAlive State Representatives.
Introduction
We are pleased to announce a rebranding of the SteemAlive City Coordinator project to SteemAlive State Representatives. We hope that this change of name and expansion of role will help the community operate more efficiently and help us spread our promotion activity far and wide. In this article, we will learn about the motivation behind this move and why its a great thing to do. First of all, lets look at the current roles of city Coordinators.
The current role of City Coordinators
SteemAlive City Coordinators have played a big role in our community. They are in charge of promoting Steemit in their city, mentoring new ones, organizing mentorship classes and encouraging local networking. Our network of more than 8 city coordinators have enabled us to grow rapidly both in population and number of active users.
So far the role of City Coordinators have been limited to their cities of residence. Also, because they recuit and mentor new users within their area, we have had large groups of users in many cities. But to enable us to reach places that are a little remote and expand our network, it would be nice to think about giving the Coordinators larger area of control and forming smaller remote groups or teams within the expanded territory. That is the idea behind SteemAlive City Representatives. In summary, here are some limitations of the City Coordinator Arrangement:
- Large users concentrated in a particular area of the city
- Challenging for users living in far areas to physically participate in activities such as Roadshows and Meetups
- Inability to adequately manage a large group due to scarce resources. For example, providing refreshment to a very large number of promoters (say 15 persons) weekly after some promotional activity
- Inefficiency because too many people in a group having little to do
- Limiting our ability to grow and exist in remote locations
As a result of the above challenges, we have decided to expand the role of City Coordinators and also create the space to form smaller teams, provided they are able to independently carry out our promotional activities.
Introducing SteemAlive State Representatives and Teams
SteemAlive State Representatives will now be the new face of our community leadership in their area. Instead of coordinating just the City, they will be responsible for all activities happening in their state. Nigeria has 36 states and the FCT. Each state usually have many cities, local governments and rural areas in it. So instead of having many City Coordinators in each state, we will now have just one State Representative. The State Representative is also the First Team Coordinator as he or she has a team they coordinate. So Each State Representative is also a Team Coordinator.
We also announce the formation of Teams in each State. There will be team Coordinators who will ensure that members of their team are actively participating in community activities - most important is promotion. The Teams would be managed by the State Representative who will ensure that all their needs are addressed.
The Role of State Representatives
State Representatives are basically City Coordinators in a new and expanded role. So you can check this document to see the role of City Coordinators, which effectively will become the role of State Representatives. Their expanded roles will now include:
- Making sure teams in their state are active and cared for.
- Organizing all teams Promotional activity/meetup at least once in a month (Preferably at the month end).
- They will be consulted before new teams are formed.
- Making a weekly summary report of how teams are doing.
The Role of Team Coordinators
Team Coordinators are the leaders of their teams. They work hand in hand with the State Representative to ensure things happen as they should. The Team Coordinator is responsible for making sure their team is participating in activities organized by the Community - most essentially promotional activities.
Here are some of the roles of Team Coordinators:
- Organizes Promotional Activities like Roadshows and other things he might think of
- Mentors those in his group
- Guides new users
- Makes a report of their activity weekly
- Makes sure team members attends the monthly promotion/meetup organized by the State Representative
Teams can choose a name. For example, Achievers Team, Lagos.
Announcing the new State Representatives
We already have City Coordinators in various cities that have worked hard with us for some time now to help the community grow. We use this opportunity to say a big Thank You to all of them. At the same time, we are glad to announce that effective immediately, our hard-working City Coordinators shall now be known and addressed as SteemAlive State Representatives. They are as follows:

Thank you
This a very good initiative @steemalive, in my state I have a loving hard working City coordinator @ngoenyi, and other city coordinators in other states I love working with them all in SteemAlive and will love to address them with this new name state representative, it is a wonderful name for all of them, may God bless you all and give SteemAlive Community more wisdom to work with you all.
Good one, we are growing everyday
An awesome idea and strategy , but I’ll like to be clear on the people the “Team Coordinators” will be leading and mentoring. Will it be strictly people that they registered but resides in their state alone or anyone from divers state whom they registered and are already mentoring?
If they register someone that is out of their state, they can still mentor them. But if there is a State Rep in the state where the person resides, he can refer them there so as to join a group and be active
Thanks for the clarification, but Is there a limit to how many “Team Coordinators” there can be in a state?
This is really impressive, with this everyone will be carried along
Up steemalive.
This a VR good initiative. With this, we will have more committed and devoted persons in steemalive community. I will be looking out in my residence state to know if I can apply.
Thank you@steemalive
