INTRODUCTION
Every areas have the facilities that supports the socio-economic activities of the people in the region. Here, we don't have great facilities and the little that we have are in serious poor shape and needed attention! Worse ever, those in Authority believed as if it did not concerns them!!!!!
However, to create awareness over it and tell people more about them even the sorrowing state, we found ourselves despite being a rich nation! That's why I will show you their pictures, coordinates(i.e, WHAT3WORDS) and details about them.
1). MINI POWER DISTRIBUTION SET
This is the mini power DISTRIBUTION SET popularly called "Transformer". It helps to set down the electricity at very high voltage and redistribute it among the various sectors and region which will then be connected to the homes. This one is situated at strategic road junction called AMA BREAD. Because loaves of bread are sold there before! This Transformer set is 350kv but the sectors that it's servicing, needs over 800kv of electricity. This makes the area to lack electricity and the frequent breaking down of this said Transformer set!
2). MILLING INDUSTRY
This is the only milling industry in the area. It is privately owned and not regularly maintained. It is used by large number of people because most of the people here are subsistence farmers. To grind any grains is done here even me, make use of it because there's no alternative!
3) BAD ROAD FACILITY
This is popular Ohanku road. A busy Trunk B category of road that connects the Aba with other surrounding towns like Port Harcourt etc. But it is in very poor state. Although the Government is trying to fix it but the mismanagement of funds is really affecting the pace of development on the road. The basic and safely means of transportation on this road is the tricycles and motorcycle. Which are very costly to purchase due to devaluation of our currency; Naria in the foreign market and they are all imported machineries!
4) GATE OF PRIMARY/HIGH SCHOOL
The name of the school is UMUOGELE MBATO PRIMARY SCHOOL. This is one of the premier high school in the entire region and first of it's kind in the area.
It's prided as the best and offers a great and quality education to her students although being in poor state that needed urgent Care! I attended this school then and I wrote in details about it HERE.
5) PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF NIGERIA
This is one of the earlier churches in my region. It is the UMUOGELE PARISH. She is undergoing a major repairs and conservative measures. She boasts of over 2500 devoutee on Sundays and other church programs. She have contributed immensely to the building of the faith of the people.
6) LATE PA - MOSES MANSION
This is an upstair building that's found in the PA MOSES COMPOUND. MR, MOSES WOGU is one of the prominent men in this community before he died. He left lot of legacies, championed by his wife, A German woman before she too dies and both buried in the Compound. Their children and grandchildren are managing the properties and other assets.
He donate his land for both UMUOGELE MBATO PRIMARY SCHOOL AND PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF NIGERIA, UMUOGELE PARISH.
7). RENOVATED CIVIL HALL
It was known as UMUOGELE CIVIL HALL before it was renovated by former ministry of Labour under former president of Nigeria Dr. Good luck Jonathan, CHIEF EMEKA WOGU singlehandedly. It is currently be use as a security post for the vigilance group that making order and boasting up the Security architecture of the area.
As a civil hall, it is used for meetings and discussion on the issues concerning the area. Remember that Igbos are Republicans in nature. Everyone have an input which can't be neglected in this democratic state. Democratic process have been in place among the igbos for centuries!
8). CHILDREN PLAYGROUND
This neighborhood playground is owned by former ministry of Labour under former president of Nigeria Dr. Good luck Jonathan, CHIEF EMEKA WOGU. But it is being managed by the Public.
It can serves for various purposes; pitch for football game, race and for events too. It usually trimmed to maintain a level and children playing games here, enjoys to too.
9). CHIEF OWEN HOUSE
This is one of the early upstairs in my region. It was built by the year 1972 by a man whose name is Chief Owen Johnson. A foreigner and left it behind as he returned to his place. It is being managed by a legal practitioner, who is accountable to his owner of the house.
The house boasts of many rooms with tenants and halls upstairs which is being used for church programs.
10) MODERN BUILDING
This is one of the quickly built Mansion in my region. It is owned by a hard-working young man who is a business man. His name is George Ndukwe.
The building is well planned and furnished to the taste of the owner. There are tenants occupying the building. It support itself with private Transformer set and don't depends on erratic electricity supplies here.
CONCLUSION
A well-developed and civilized town did not fall from sky but it takes great effort from every inhabitants to work for the region's good and welfares.
With time, a great Developmental and infrastructure establishment will gears up in Aba. Although Aba is a great commercial hub of Africa. It needs urgent care on its facilities!
