Bribery and corruption rings a bell upstairs at just the mention of it, BRIBERY could be said to be the act of making illegal payments in cash or kind to people in higher places just to influence their decisions on certain matters while CORRUPTION is simply compromising ones virtue, integrity and moral principles over something that's not worth it.
From the above, bribery and corruption are partners in crime, they both work hand-in-hand to fulfill its purpose or aim.

Why is bribery and corruption common?

We live in a world that is wayward and lost, due to love for material possession, preference and greed, bribery and corruption has taken a great toll on man. I can't possibly say there's a particular area devoid of bribery and corruption. Man has let his feelings and love for money over rule his sense of integrity when it comes to saying 👇

How bribery happens in my city and county as a whole

Sincerely speaking, I am not in anyway pleased with the situation of things in my country when it comes to bribery and corruption. It is with much grieve that I own down these writing because I've witnessed many bribery scenes and everything plays afresh in my memory. Bribery and corruption is mainly promoted by people we look up to for help. You won't understand, let me break it down;

1. Our security personnels like the police, navy, etc do collect bribes on highways, water ways etc and allow in banned stuffs like hard drugs into the country

2. Recently, everyone have been encouraged to go get their PVC (personal voters card) people have been intimidated already in cash and kind and made to promise they'll vote for a particular candidate. Isn't this vote buying ??

3. Judges are given huge amount of cash to rule in favor of someone, shorten a culprits sentence or to protect him from the law

4. I can remember vividly when I was writing my SSCE examinations, students who paid some huge amount of money to the teachers were the ones that went into the exams hall with their smartphones. The questions were leaked to them and for those who didn't pay, we were abused verbally and tight security was present. Isn't that bribery and corruption?

5. The fact that "Money speaks has made many say that black is white and white is black"

6. Our teenage girls now sell their bodies out just for some amount of money without shame, what an height of corruption!

Reasons why it is wrong for public office holders get involved in bribery and corruption

These are people we look up to for help, they are the public figures and should lead an exemplary life

Public office holders who indulge in bribery and corruption taint the image and reputation of the country

• Bribery and corruption not only affects us but also the country as a whole, embezzled money for infrastructure drags the economy of the country down*

What should be done to public office holders who indulge in bribery and corruption

I eagerly will like to witness a public office holders punished for bribery and corruption. But it seems impossible because they have the laws in their hands and can manoeuver it in their favor. I have suggestions sha;

• Public office holders should be made to die a painful, excruciating and slow death either by hanging

• Their prison sentence should be well documented with no option of bail and hard labor

• Their families should also be made to suffer with them so others will learn from them

• They should be made to pay huge amount of money as fines for bribery and corruption

• They should be sacked from work when caught in such illegal acts

Cases like this are what leads to jungle justice in the world today because people in high places are not to be trusted. Therefore, they take the laws into their hands and I can't possibly blame them for that. Bribery and corruption can stop but change begins with us, we ought to do something.
