Introduction
Hello, I welcome you to my lecture on what peer group is all about and how to handle it. We in one way or the other associate with one another so is left for us to know the good peer and the bad peer. And how to mingle with them .
What is peer pressure?
Peer pressure are groups of people who has an interest, or behave in a particular way in order to achieve a particular goal. This group of people are mostly influenced by their memeber. Around us today, so many people are regretting the life that they are living because of peer group, It has done more harm than good. Thereby by leading most young boys and girls to do some unspeakable things such as Yahoo plus, kidnapping, taking haerd drugs, to mention but a few.
Examples of peer group
- Passive peer pressure. This group likes to mimic. That is doing things exactly how another person does it.
- Active peer pressure. This is a case where by The peer convince others to do things against thier well.
Peer pressure is not actual bad because it can lead someone to learn good thing.
Peer pressure is common because is natural for people to mingle with each other, to compare themselves to each. People are easily influenced by peer pressure because they want to fit in and be like peer that the admire. The e causes of all these are peer has low self esteem, fear of rejection, parents has a very big role to play on thier teens.
How to handle peer pressure
1. Have friends with same value and belief.
2. Learn to say No. You must not agree to what so ever your peer is telling you.
3. Trust your own self. Know when to say this is wrong.
4. Have a secret code to communicate with your parents. Make your parents your best friends so that you can talk to them about the matter that disturbs you.
5. Try changing the subject matter when you feel insecured.
6. Behave like someone who does not know anything. So that they can neglect you. That's when they are saying A you saying B.
Finally. In our society today most parents does not care for the welfare of thier teens. They feel so less concern about the in and out of thier children. That is why we are having many young parents, children who are not of age to become a parents.
Conclusion
Lets all join our hands to see the day to day activities of our children. Be on a look out to know when they are going out with the wrong peer.

Good to read your post about peer pressure.As humans we tend to behave like our friend or peers and so having bad people as friends leads to a negative peer pressure.
You are right, parents should pay attention and listen to their children because if the parents aren't giving them attention,they have no option than to learn only from peers which could be detrimental.

Peer pressure is very good when it is positive but with my observation I see that negative peer pressure is dominating because it is very common
