Introduction

Melon or Egusi as we locally call it is one of the thickening ingredients for soup. Many eat it without knowing it's healthy benefits.

The health benefits of melon seed

  • Improves appetite:
    The vitamins in 🍈 melon provides exceptional benefits to the human body which is vitm. B1 (thiamine) and B2 (riboflavin) which makes the fats and oil in the body to undergo the process of metabolism and which improves
    appetite.

  • Improves the skin:
    The vitamin E. Which is in it helps to improve the skin, making it to stay healthy. The vitamins is good for bathing soap and cream.

  • Helps in digestion:
    Melon contains dietary fiber's that boost food digestion and eliminate constipation

  • Improves vision
    The vitamin A content in melon as well as oil makes it good for consumption.

  1. It fights against inflammation in the body and reduce any cause of inflammation especially that linked to depression.

  2. Prevents malnutrition:
    The protein content that is essential minerals and vitamins, makes it good source of food to prevent malnutrition. You can use it to supplement your babies good.

  • It promotes heart health:
    This contains a high amount of fatty acids. This makes it beneficial for the heart as it helps in reducing the chance of heart diseases by constantly reducing the blood cholesterol which is bad for the heart.

The melon seed more benefits

Melon is Rich in fat as well as protein. It is used mostly in preparation of delicacy a.g Egusi soup and contains high oil which can be used for the processing of oil, and can serve as a vegetable oil in cooking.

The Effects:

In as much as the nutrients are beneficial, some of them such as omega 6 fatty acid might trigger some certain health. Diseases such as depression because of it's role in increasing inflammation. The fats content which is high in it might also lead to excessive weigh gain, thefore, adequate vegetables can be used to complement it. Making the diet to be balanced.

Conclusion:

Egusi is widely contains lots of essential nutrients which is good for the health and skin. The nutritive values is great and should compliment our daily dietary plan as it helps.

My dear, am among those people that eats melon but carelessly cares for its health benefits. But this article is an eye opener to me.

But i have a question, is it true that egusi enhances the rate of malaria in ones body thereby causing one to fall sick? Am asking this because, people around me forbids it base on that.

I was about to ask this too 😄. Growing up,I was told that too much egusi is not good it causes malaria, I'm still yet to find out how

Marajah I don't think is true, maybe that is thier believe. But is good to consume with adequate vegetables.

I never knew egusi is this beneficial to the body. I ate it mostly because it is a type of food that can be eaten. But now that you have brought it up, o will put it in mind how powerful egusi is.

Wow learning never end, melon seed improves vision and helps digestive system, what am I waiting for, I will eat more of it from now to improve my vision, maybe i will throw my glasses away

You wrote well and educated us on the Importance of melon.Here in our place we used it as a thickner and sometimes in combination with ogbono for making a decent soup.
