I guess we all have heard this saying "Water is Life", indeed it is, every living thing (man, animal, plant, flower, trees, ant, crops, etc needs water to survive even the soil on which we plant needs water to be able to produce food too.
Drinking enough water everyday is essential and very beneficial to the the human body, and as such should not be exachanged for anything.

Having said that, let's see what Warm Water Therapy is.

Warm Water Therapy involves drinking of warm water on an empty stomach first thing in the morning after waking up, before brushing of teeth or eating.

This therapy originated from Japan, and various sayings has it that it can heal a variety of health conditions, and it has steps to be taken.
Note: This should be repeated daily for maximum results

  • Drink four to five 3/4-cup (160-ml) glasses of warm water on an empty stomach when you wake up, and before brushing of teeth, then wait for about 45 minutes before eating breakfast.
  • Whenever you want to eat, eat only for 15 minutes. After waiting for at least 2 hours, you can then eat more or drink anything else.

Why Do We Need Warm Water Therapy?

There are various benefits derived from drinking warm water early in the morning, some of which are;

  • It Aids digestion: Drinking a warm glass of water in the morning helps flush out unwanted properties / toxins in the body, leading to improved blood circulation too. Also the warm water breaks down the food in the tummy and keeps the digestive system healthy and in a good condition.

  • It serves as Laxative: If you are constantly having constipation which is caused by dehydration, drinking warm water is all you need. It will stimulate your bowel movements loosen up your stools, and you will get relief.

*It relieves period pain: For some women who suffer period pains and cramps, do not neglect this therapy. The warmth from the water goes a long way in soothing painful abdominal muscle spasms, thereby giving relief from the pains.

  • It speeds up weight loss: This is a recommended practice for those looking to reduce weight. Intake of warm water early in the morning helps in the increase of body temperature and thereby metabolic rate, which alternatively helps ones body to burn more calories/fats.

*It relieves cold: It is advisable for one to drink warm water when cold. This is because it clears out the accumulated mucus and helps the person breathe better. Furthermore, it zaps the sorethroat-causing microbes and soothes one's entire respiratory tract.

Although, warm water therapy is beneficial to the human body, it also has side effects when abused, some of which are;

  • It can lead to water intoxication, or overhydration: This happens when one involves himself or herself with an intake of excessive amount of water in a short period of time. This condition is caused by hyponatremia or low salt levels, that is the salt in the body has been diluted by excessive fluid intake.
    It’s a serious condition that can result in death. Although it's rare in healthy people whose kidneys are able to quickly get rid of excess fluid, but people with kidney problems, endurance athletes, and those who abuse stimulant drugs, runs a higher risk of death.
    To prevent this, do not drink more than about 4 cups (1 liter) of fluid per hour, as this is the maximum amount that a healthy person’s kidneys can handle at once.

  • For those who practice it for weight loss, It may lead to rebound weight gain when the practice is over. This is because the excessive calorie restrictions has lead to a reduction in the number of calories one burns at rest, thereby causing a spike in the hormone ghreline, which increases the urge for hunger. And when this happens, the person following the
    guidelines on the timing of meals and eating within a 15-minute window, he or she now eats too quickly and even more than required to cover up. This may lead to indigestion and excessive weight gain in the long run.

Conclusion

I highly recommend this warm water therapy to everyone because I've been practicing it for years now, and I can attest to some of its benefits. In fact, I learnt it from my dad, and I have had no regrets whatsoever.
Drink water every day and do not wait until you are very thirsty before you can drink, remember, water is life.

Thank you all, and Namaste 🙏

@luchyl, thanks for this nice and well educative post. I do take normal room temperature every morning instead of warm water. Little wonder there is no positive results. From this tutorial, i have seen reasons to drink warm water every morning because, i can even stay for good 2 weeks without deficating. More to that, so, 1litre is normally recommended per hour? Wow!

Thank you for stopping by to read my post. I think there's a mistake with the club you wrote. You may want to verify it and possibly make corrections.

Thank you for educating us on hydrotherapy. It would have been more beneficial if it was more comprehensive covering tepid water, topical application of water, and even hot water. For instance, topical application of tepid water brings instant relieve of fever. All the same thank you for your effort.
