Best Regard great steemians, in this bright and blissful day I will be taking you on a tour through one of the prestigious university called MICHAEL OKPARA UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE, UMUDIKE (MOUAU) located in the Eastern part of Nigeria. It is situated in Umuahia which is the capital city of Abia state. Abia state is also known with the acronym "Gods own state" which has one of the biggest booming economic hub in Nigeria. I am Josiah Christopher a student of civil engineering and this is my 4th year in this institution, I will be your tour guide.

HISTORY

The Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, was first inaugurated as a specialized University in the year November 1992 by a Federal Government of Nigeria Decree No 48. It started formal activities in May 1993 with the nomination of the first Council and Vice-Chancellor Professor Placid C. Njoku on 27 May 1993, while other crucial officials of the University were elected later.
The first set of students were approved into the institution during the 1993/94 academic year with a student population of 82.
The nickname "Umudykes" or "U'dykers" is the name given to students, alumni, and sports teams of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture (mouau). source

ADIMINISTRATIVE BUILDINGS
Administrative buildings compresses of the admin Block, the school bank (Mouau micro finance bank) and the ICT building.
These are the vital buildings in the institution that aid academic progress.

Admin Block

ADMIN BLOCK
The admin building is the most relevant building in the school. It oversees the intake of new student into the school and also provide the necessary certification requirement for the graduating student. The admin building consist of the office of the vice chancellor in the person of PROF. MADUEBIBISI OFO IWE, CFS, the deputy vice chancellor (administration), the librarian, the registrar etc. the admin building also consist of the non-academic staffs offices in the university. This is located at the east coast from the main entrance of the University after the Mouau bank.

Mouau Bank

The Mouau micro finance bank is a bank which is built to perform transactional activities. Activities such as payment of fees; which include school fees, accommodation fee and other subsidiary fees within the school environment. They also provide loans, allow banking with them and guarantees investment.

ICT complex

This is the ICT complex which is well equipped with internet facilities to serve the school environment. They provide free wifi courage within some academic buildings like the library complex and admin building. It is located at the western part of the university. They also conduct ict training for all student.

Mouau Clinic

The school health care is situated at the first entrance by the left side after the Admin building. It provides health care services for all students and for the neighboring communities. They conduct gross examination like x-ray test, proper health check on all newly admitted student to check there health status to accommodate the University surroundings. It’s well equipped with mobile van, qualified doctors and nurses. My third visit to the school clinic was last month, when my cousin was admitted for treatment and today was my fourth visit. Thanks to God for good health.

Our next visit is the school library, which contains research books for all colleges within the school. The entry pass into the library is the school identification card. The library books are arranged according to department on a shelf which makes it easy for the student to locate. The reading zone is well spaced and fitted with air conditioner with a post on the wall written NO NOISE. There are staffs whose job is to patrol around the reading zone to ensure that students are reading.

COLLEGES OR FACULTIES
The most important factor here is that all the departments in this institution are accredited and approved with degree certification in B.Sc. All colleges undergoes Master program. To make it simple for the students and visitors the colleges are known by their abbreviation, example; college of engineering and engineering technology is known as CEET. So let’s ride through the colleges with CEET been the first.

CEET Building

College of Engineering and Engineering Technology(CEET)
We all know that technology has been the dream and focus of the world and in the advancement of the existing technology. This college (CEET) is made up of six(6) department which include
• Civil Engineering
• Electrical and Electronics department
• Computer Engineeeeering
• Agricultural and biological engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Chemical Engineering
Each of this department under goes a five(5) years course of study with a degree certification in B.Sc.

CAFST is a college for food science and tourism with the aim of testing and improving the quality food, nutrition, right diets and food composition. The departments includes;
• Food Science Technology
• Human Nutrition and dietetic
• Home Science/Hospit.ality management and tourism
This college undergo a five years course of study with a well equipped laboratory

COLNAS
COLLEGE OF ANIMAL SCIENCE AND ANIMAL PRODUCTION (COLNAS)
With the vision of this institution, this college elaborates on animal production and the scientific behavior of animals. This study is categorized under departments which include;
• Animal breeding and physiology
• Animal nutrition and forage science
• Animal production and livestock management
This courses are all four(4) years programs with cert

CCSS
COLLEGE OF CROP AND SOIL SCIENCE(CCSS)
This college studies the behavior of crops and soil. The departments under this college include;
• Plant Health and management
• Agronomy
• Soil science and meteorology
They are five years courses with certification In B.Sc.

College of veterinary medicine(VET)
This is one of the most renowned college of the institution with capacity over five hundred student, with ten different department and well equipped laboratory. Department include;

• Veterinary physiology and pharmacology
• Veterinary biochemistry and animal production
• Veterinary Surgery Radiology
• Veterinary public health and prevention medicine

ACCOMODATION
Accomodation is made available for male and female at a subsidy rate for student. There are rules and regulations that must be obeyed. The use of gas cooker are disallowed to prevent explosion.

LECTURE HALLS

ETF HALL	ACHEBE HALL

These are the two major halls in the school, achebe hall is the biggest hall with over 288 seat capacity. Second hall is the ETF hall.
During my visit to the Achebe halls I saw some student around and I shared steemit to them and they where happy to be part of our community, so they signed up. One of them is @favic10

SPORT FACILITIES

The University is equipped with a football field, basketball court, long tennis courts and volleyball court. From the school time table Wednesdays are meant for exercise which helps the student to stay fit and healthy.

Transportation
Due to the vest land mass of the institution they provided transportation for all students free of charge to any destination around the school premises.
