What methods did you use in promoting Steem (e.g word of mouth, social media, etc)
In recent days I use both words of mouth and social media platform to promote steem. But for the sake of this challenge, I use words of mouth to spray the good news about steemit. In the course of my promotion, I was able to talk to a lot of people about how steemit works, and the benefits they stand to gain as a user, such as financial benefits, educational benefits, and also the benefits of making new friends around the globe. Although there was some challenges, which I will share with you later, the experience was wow.. and memorable.
Did you use any Promotional materials and branding? (fliers, Branded Tshirts, Banners, etc)
I joined steemit last month, and ever since I joined, I have not come across any flier, branded t-shirts or banner. But I have a plan to brand one t-shirt for myself at the end of this month. In course of my promotion, I use only my cell phone for the promotion by loging into my account in order to explain most of the things. I showed them some articles, and how the articles were reviewed and rewarded.
How did people respond to your promotion efforts?
People responded in different ways to my promotion efforts. Some were telling me how they were introduced to some platforms, and how the platform later crashed and render all their effort and resources useless, while some said they don't believe in anything online. I also met some people that claimed not to have time to be reading, and posting articles. Nevertheless, I was able to come across some people that really gave me listening ears, and are ready to be a member of this platform.
What are the main challenges that hinder users from joining?
People have various reasons for not joining steemit. Some of those reasons are:
Most people prefer a fast money making platform, and unfortunately, steemit is not one of those platform where you can make millions within a short time. As such, some people find no interest in joining it.
Laziness: steemit is a platform where someone need to work hard by writing a qualitative articles, vote, and comment on peoples articles. Unfortunately, some people are so lazy that they find all the above listed activities tasking, and they can't do it.
Lack of smart phone: some people have interest in joining steemit, but lack of laptop and android phone hinders them from registering
Bad experiences: a lot of people have invested on so many platform which later crashed, as a result, they loose trust for any platform due to the bad experience they had.
Where you able to sign up new users? If yes, how did you convince them to join?
In the course of my promotion, I was able to recruit a new user. He is by name Basit. After exchanging pleasantry with him, I asked him if he have any knowledge of cryptocurrency or if he is into any online business, but his response was No. So I began telling him about steemit. I was able to inform him about the benefits he stand to gain as a person, and as a student. At the end our discussion, he accepted to joined steemit, and I created an account for him.
What are the main challenges you faced during Steem Promotion?
In the course of my steemit promotion, I faced quite some challenges, but the basic challenge I faced was network problem and also the challenge of some people not willing to give listening ears. I was talking to someone about steemit, and when I tried to login my account, I realized they was no network, and that lead to the end of the session without achieving my goal. I also came across some people who had bad perception about online platforms due to their past experience. As such, it was very difficult to talk and convince them.
Suggest ways we can overcome challenges to Steem Promotion.
Below are my suggestion on how to overcome challenges during steem promotion.
- the promoter should be well equipped with the knowledge of steemit, so that he or she can answer the questions that he or she might encounter
the promoter should have it in mind that not all will give listening ears. With that, he or she won't feel disappointed when faced with that challenge
the promoter should avoid exaggeration when promoting steemit, because if the new recruit later find out that things are not the way he was told from the beginning, he or she would loose confidence
In conclusion, despite the challenges faced in the course of promoting steemit, its still a wonderful and memorable experience. I encourage each and everyone to take it as a responsibility to promote steemit wherever we find ourselves. With that, we do be able to take steemit to a greater height
