Kicking off the biggest Steem Marketing campaign in Nigeria - in grand Style
Introduction
Yesterday, I announced Steem Road Show, a campaign to take Steemit to popular roads and streets in Nigeria to create awareness for it. I and my team have been planning and working towards this project and it was huge success as we kicked it off today at Abia State Polytechnic Main Gate. That location has some of the biggest traffic of students entering or leaving the school. Today, we spoke to a lot of them and results have been great. So this is a report of how it went down
We started from the Aba training center
Our departure time for the road show was 9am and we really kept to time. By 9am, 4 members of an original team of 5 were ready for the show. So i briefed them on best practices for the show and then, we took pictures at the center with our roll-up banner. Take a look below:
At the Road Show Site - Abia State Polytechnic
This is one of two Tertiary institutions in Aba city. Abia State Polytechnic has thousands of students walk in and out of the gate. So we set up camp just opposite the gate across the road, exactly where the overpass ended. So everyone that crossed over must see the banner. As you can see on the school clock at the gate, its 9.41 am when we started.
My Personal Efforts
Just like the other members of the team, I really tried to approach and talk to passers by who are looking at our banner. I handed them the fliers and explained how Steemit works. A lot of them asked questions and got answers. Some that were in a hurry promised to discuss with me later in the day through whatsapp.
I was able to assist the registration and setting up accounts for two persons. One of them is Jessica who is 17 years old. Her mothers shop was behind where the banner was set up. @ninapenda explained Steemit to them and the mum asked the daughter to be signed up since she is intelligent, has a phone and loves reading and writing. Interestingly, she was able to complete her introduction post in 1 hour.

I also helped to sign up a young man who was really in a hurry to enter in to the school. He was no doubt interested and spent some time with me asking questions and getting answers. He was patient enough to have his account created. But he rushed off and promised to complete his introduction post tomorrow. I will keep an eye on him.

Refreshment after the Show
We went to a close fast-food restaurant to get something to eat after doing the Road Show for close to 3 hours. By that noon time, the sun was really hard on us. Chicken Republic is the name of the restaurant. Inside the restaurant, also shared fliers and the colors of our shirt attracted questions. So we talked to some interested persons. Inside Chicken Republic, I signed up two persons, one of whom will complete his introduction story tomorrow. I signed up @ikanno. I also signed up @bukacino who has done his introduction post.
