Introduction:

A slow computer is like a thorn in the flesh. It unnecessarily eats away your time and everything seems to take forever to happen. You have enough storage memory in your hard drive. Your RAM is not too small, and you do not have heavy applications running. Yet, your computer speed is almost a crawl. Well dont worry. It has happeneded to all of us, and there are things your could do to make your comupter run faster. In this article, I will show us at least 5 things you could do to make your computer run faster. Lets take a look at some of them now:

  • Free Up Storage
  • Clean up your Disk
  • Update your Antivirus
  • Reduce Startup Programs
  • Increase RAM size

Now lets get into the details.

1. Free Up Memory Storage

One of the things that easily makes your computer run so slow the memory is getting filled up. The smaller the remaining memory available for your computer, the slower it runs. So first, you need to check the size of your hard disk and see what is remaining. If the hard disk is nearly full or does not have enough space, it will affect the speed of your computer. In this case, you need to free up space.

One major way to free up space in your computer is to uninstall any software you no longer use. So quickly go to your control panel and check all installed programs. You will definitely find one or two that are no longer useful or not frequently used. You can quickly uninstall them to free up space. When you leave just what is important to occupy your computer storage space, you will have enough space for your computer to do its job.

Besides uninstalling software, you can also empty your recycle bin. This is another place that hold storage space unnecessarily. You can also check your folders and delete any files that are no longer useful. Look for heavy files live videos files and other media files. Just uninstall them and you would have created more storage space. It will help you computer to run faster.

2. Clean up your Disk

This is another way to automatically find files that are no longer helpful to you. For example, your drives could be holding temporary installation files, downloaded files, and even the recycle bin. When you run the disk, your computer will automatically scan and detect files that are no longer in use. These files just sit on your drive and occupy space, making your computer run slower. So run disk cleanup and delete these files.

To run disk cleanup, just type Disk Cleanup in the search bar and select the app. After the scan is complete, it will will list some files that can be deleted. Select and delete these files to create more space on your computer. This will boost the speed.

If you browse the internet regularly or usually plug removable devices from other computers to your own, chances are that you will be battling viruses from time to time. Once your computer is infected by a virus, the first visible sign is that it will slow sown your computer. Viruses duplicate fast inside your computer memory and eat up useful space. So you need to be sure that your antivirus up-to-date. This will help to defend your computer against viruses.

Next is to run a deep system scan using your updated antivirus. This scan will likely return files that have been corrupted and other malicious files that could be preventing your computer from running normally. So after the scan, your antivirus will remove all the viruses. This is another helpful thing to do so that your computer will run normally.

4. Reduce Startup Programs

There are some apps frequently used by the system or you that are automatically run each time you boot or startup your computer. Most recent Windows operating system start these apps the same time your computer is started and keeps these apps running in the background. As they run in the background, they can eat up memory space and thereby slow down your computer. So you need to switch off some startup apps manually and this will boost your computer speed.

Type Startup on the search bar and the click the Startup app. When the page opens, you can switch off any programs you are not frequently using. This is another nice way to boost your computer speed.

5. Increase RAM size

Your RAM is one of the main hardware that is responsible for the Speed of your computer. RAM is the main memory used to hold data as the computer works on it. So if your RAM is small, your computer will not be fast. But if your RAM have enough memory space, it will be able to process data faster. So check the size of your RAM and determine if it needs an upgrade. A computer technician can help you look at the RAM and determine if it needs to be upgraded. At least, your RAM size should not be smaller than 4 Gigabyte. If it is smaller, then chances are that your computer would not be fast. You probably need a bigger RAM.

Conclusion

A slow computer kills productivity. It makes you do less in more time. You could even sleep off while your computer is still starting. You need to take steps to ensure your computer runs at a good speed. The steps suggestions given above might be useful. Of course, you can always research other things that could be done to help. A technician will likely offer the best advice on this issue. Just do whatever it takes to make your computer run at a normal speed. Its worth every effort.

Thanks very much sir...
Anti-virus is a very good thing that really need to be updated in any device.. just to keep it safe and protected. Because during your downloading and plugin your device to other devices, virus 🦠 can enter into your device and without the anti-virus, your device is already open to danger ⚡⚡

This is also applicable to smartphones. I can also do so to mine but it's just that I might lose lose some files
