Introduction

We had originally planned to do the Day 2 of the Road Show on Friday 3/9/2021. But unknown tous, the weather has other plans. July - September is sees the heaviest rainfalls in South-East Nigeria. So on Friday, it was around 5am that the downpour started. It rained like that from that early morning to 1pm. We could not make it. So the Road Show was shifted to Saturday 4/9/2021. We had a great day with no rains and it was successful. So this was how it went.

We started from the Aba training center

As usual, we kicked off from the training center. Ofcourse, I was not able to follow the team in the morning because I went to take the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. So @samuel20 led the team out. We planned to do the Road Show at St. Michaels road by Asa road. St. Michaels Road is the hub of Smartphones sales and repair in Aba and environs. So it was a very strategic place to do the road show. They kicked off around 10 am. They did the work till 12 noon when I finished taking the vaccine and joined them immediately.

When I met them at the venue, I was really impressed to see a good number of volunteers on ground doing the campaign, actively sharing fliers and signing new people up. I immediately called them together, motivated them and we took a group picture.

My Personal Efforts

Immediately after a few pictures, I swung into action. I took the fliers and started speaking to passers-by. The first person I spoke to was really interested, although he was in much hurry. He stopped and asked questions. He was really surprised because he is hearing about Steemit for the first time. He promised to come to the office on Tuesday and start up. I took a picture with him. The second person was a young man who said he had come to fix his phone. After explaining the opportunity, he promised to sign up on Tuesday once his phone is fixed. I also spoke to a third person that also promised to signup since he was travelling. I took images with those I spoke to as seen below:

I also helped @marajah to set up accounts for some interested people. One of them is @faithemeali and she is writing her introduction post. We also assisted another interested person to sign up and do her introduction post.

Refreshment after the Show

We did more work for almost 2 hours before we decided to call it a day. We ended the work around 2.20pm. It was really fun and productive. We headed to a nearby relaxation center to take some snacks and rest up a bit. At the relaxation center, we took some pictures and talked a lot about Steemit and how the day has gone.

I created a Whatsapp group called SteemAlive Reception. This Whatsapp group is where we welcome the new people and start their mentorship right away. So we added them to the group and sent welcome messages. We told them that we will start the first class 8pm same day and we did. Big thanks to @samuel20 who did the introductory class and explained Steemit basics. In the days to come, we will continue to mentor them until they become well grounded.

I have created a Whatsapp group for the SteemAlive Promoters Club volunteers. There we share our report links and also discuss experiences gained from promoting Steemit in our various cities. There are a total of 20 members as we speak. We are growing by the day too.
