This contest is a one of a kind, a contest that gives me the opportunity to express my self and life history.

Today am writing about my job history, all my life i have not done more than one job, because of the passion i have for it, and this job is no other than nursing job.

A nurse is a person who takes care of a sick person or an elderly person, duties of a nurse includes, taking vital signs of the patients, keeping accurate record of a patient medical records and reporting to the doctor as soon as possible, a nurse also have the duty to handle emergencies like road traffic accident, and othe emergencies that might come while shes on duty.

After my graduation in the year 2010, i got a job in a hospital called impact hospital after few months of working there the doctor was owing me severely, one day i decided to leave the hospital but not without my money, i made a plan with my colleague, we took our 3 months salary from the medical bill a patient paid and we signed our names, and dropped our resignation latter explaining to him why we left, and that we have taken our 3 months salary, which amounted to 6 SBD because we were paid 2 SBD per month.

Finally i came back home, with no solution as to what next to do,i try doing daily savings for people which made me work around in the evening to collect money for people, i couldn't do it even upto a month i stopped, i started searching for another job.

God so kind i got another place called egon clinic on 1/8/2011 [what3word](https://w3w.co/lobbed.savers.forwarded) The pay was so poor, i was offered 1.5 SBD a month, it wasn't fair at all, but because i loved life saving job, i stick to it believing that one day there will be a change, i never wanted to look for another well paying job.

Despite the little pay, i was happy especially when my patients will come to me and say Nurse thank you for taking care of me, am feeling much better, sometimes when there is emergency and the relatives will be shouting "Nurse do something" and i will try my possible best to save the persons life i feel so happy.

I always pray to Jehovah to give me more knowledge on what to do at any given time.

I worked in Egon clinic for 9yrs (1/8/2011-31/8/2019).

I got married and relocated to Lagos state, so many well paying jobs were offered to but i rejected them all till i got a job in Olaniba memorial specialist hospital as nurse and my mind was full of joy.

And i enjoyed working there till i got another well paying job, as a school nurse, where i am currently working.

Every good thing in life has disadvantages, let me briefly talk about the disadvantages of being a nurse.

Disadvantages of being a nurse

  • Nurses are vulnerable to all kinds of disease and infections, because they are at the forefront of the hospital when it comes to receiving sick ones.

  • Nurses reputations are at stake, as so many people believe that because nurses know so many things, that they are not wife materials.

But notwithstanding of all the above mentioned, i love nursing as a profession.

conclusion

Currently my job gives me more joy, as a school nurse i see different kind of children with different types of sickness, i gain more experience as the day passes by, i am proud to be a called "NURSE ADAKU"

Thank you for reading my post.

Most regards to @focusnow , and @steemalivecommunity for this wonderful contest.

My teacher says everything has it's advantages and disadvantages but when the advantages is greater than the disadvantage, then you can choose that option. Being a nurse sure has it disadvantages but the advantages are more than the cons. Weldone....it is certainly not an easy job to be a frontliner

Nurse am feeling sick. Lol... I love nurses i dont know why. Maybe is because my mum is also a nurse.

Nurses are vulnerable to all kinds of disease and infections, because they are at the forefront of the hospital when it comes to receiving sick ones.
Your right about this, but i think all you need to do is to be careful and always prevent them. Thanks for sharing

Yes, but because we put our patients life first it makes it difficult sometimes to be that careful.

@beautybb. That was a smart move from you and your colleague, talking about getting your 3 months salary. No one should underestimate the importance of nurses, they are closer to patients than doctors, though doctors are also important.I quess your heart swells with joy when you hear a patient say i was happy especially when my patients will come to me and say Nurse thank you for taking care of me, am feeling much better, weldone NURSE ADAKU. There is no joy that surpasses seeing your patient back to fit, weldone my sister

This simply means that you've worked as a nurse all your life time even till date. That is passion I guess. You must be very good at it because you are doing it with all your mind.

That bold step you took with your colleagues was the right step. You wouldn't have resigned without your salary.

Well done Ma.
