Looking back into CCC

I think I first joined the emoji contest which was then hosted by @freedomshift. He saw how my replies and posts in another contest which were full of emojis and he encouraged me to join and joined I did.

Few months into that, I was asked to host a contest - any contest with STEEM sponsored by the generous and gracious @freedomshift. I didn't quite understand what CCC meant at that time but in my head, the end in mind was pretty much a community that helps one another grow.

When I joined STEEMit in 2018, I grew from joining contests. Whatever contest that I could find, be it a comment contest, a drawing contest, a colouring contest, anything, I would join. I enjoyed joining the contests and I appreciate the graciousness of kind STEEMians like @freedomshift who gave and gave without any thought or expectation in return. I wanted to be able to do that too and by end of 2018, I was given the opportunity to do so in the CCC community.

I took time to think of a contest, submitted a proposal to @freedomshift and voila, my contest, "My Saturday Favourites" was born. At first, I held the contest on Saturdays but after a few weeks, it clashed with another memmber's contest and I chose to change to Thursday. That was when "My Thursday Favourites" was born.

The contest has been running for more than a year now. @freedomshift has helped me grow a lot with the contest during the initial months and now I am capable to give out prizes on my own from my posts earnings.

As a contest host, very frankly, we do not earn from the contests. In fact, we give out more than what we earn and it goes beyond STEEM or HIVE. But to me, I appreciate what CCC has done for me and here I am, giving back to the community. Although almost all of the original members are no longer posting with CCC, the community has grown with new members as we continue to host our contests, week after week.

It is not easy to host a contest, I'd give you that. It takes a lot of commitment, dedication, time, energy and thought. But we keep going because we believe in helping others.

So here we are, contest hosts, serving the community in the best ways we can. I will always be thankful for @freedomshift and the CCC community. I thank @wakeupkitty, @gertu, @olivia08 and @felixgarciap's commitment, dedication, time and energy to host their contests in the community.

I can only hope that all who joins our contests and the CCC community, be it on STEEM or HIVE, have the same goal as us and that is to help each other in the community grow.
