contest 3.52 : what does ccc mean to you
This week's contest CCC is going to base on how plants produce food which looks so attractive to humans and animals.
This has been summarised in to three words which all starts with the letter CCC.
Chlorophyll, Chloroplast and Chromoplast.
Our first C represent chlorophyll.
Chlorophyll is any several related green pigment found in the chloroplast of plant. It reflects green light and absorbs red and blue light. It can be found in plant ,cynobacteria and algae. Chlorophyll occurs in different forms but the major ones in plant are the type A and type B. The major duty of the chlorophyll in the plant is to absorb energy usually from the sun. Through photosynthesis, the plant uses the stored energy to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose.
Because food web in every ecosystem starts with photosynthesis, chlorophyll can be considered as a foundation for all life on Earth.
Our next C represent Chloroplast.
The chloroplast is an organelle in the plant cell in which the chlorophyll can be located. Photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplast. It converts the energy trapped by the chlorophyll into a stable chemical energy.
After the sunlight has been trapped and photosynthesis has taken place to produce glucose by chlorophyll and chloroplast respectively, the next step is the chromoplast which represent our last letter C.
chromoplast is an organelle responsible for pigment synthesis in photosynthetic eukaryotes. chromoplast are normally found in fruit and some leaves.It normally produces yellow and some red pigments.So, it is responsible for the attractive colours of fruits and some leaves. It gives them those pigments. Chromoplast normally helps attract eaters to the fruit due to the colour they give them and at the end of the day helps in fruitd and seeds dispersals. Thereby, chromoplast facilitate different stages of sexual reproduction in plants including pollination, fertilization and dispersal of fruit.
CCC is the basic foundation of life on Earth since all the food webs in every ecosystem begins with them which undoubtably makes contest @CCC the best on the steemit platform.
