Marketing is, without a doubt, one of the most important and vital aspects of any long-term business. Yes, this is just the process of promoting a product, item, or service to prospective customers in order to generate sales and profit. In other words, marketing is the act of a company announcing to the public that it offers a specific service. We've seen a massive change in marketing as a result of the growth of digital technologies. Businesses, on the other hand, continue to use offline marketing techniques. We'll compare and contrast the online and offline marketing techniques in this article.

Online Marketing

This is a method of marketing that uses the internet and other web - based technologies or tools to raise awareness for a certain item or service, or even the brand itself. Social media (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc. ), Search Engine Optimisation, Email, Blogs, and other techniques and technologies are used to do this.

Benefits Of Online Marketing

Larger audience: You are not bound to a specific geographical location with online marketing because the Internet's strength allows you to link the world and have a worldwide audience.

Efficiency: The efficiency of online marketing is unrivaled. You can sell your products without leaving your house if you have access to an Internet-enabled device.

Get Customer's Feedback With Ease: Because both the business and the customers are connected, getting feedback from prospective customers on your items and services would be easier if your marketing is done online.

Drawbacks Of Online Marketing

High Level Of Trust: To get customer's attention or patronage through online marketing, you may need to first established a level of trust. This is due to the numerous incidences of cybercrime that have been related to online marketing.

High Rate Of Competition: Some online website where people can sell their products offer free or low-cost services, resulting in a flood of people promoting their items and services and, as a result, creating high rate of competitions in which one's product's advertisement may be sunk among hundreds of others.

Knowledge About Online Marketing: to make good and effective use of online marketing, you will need to either understand the essentials and basics of online marketing or pay for the services of people that are specialized in online marketing.

Offline Marketing

This type of marketing techniques focuses mostly on traditional methods that do not necessitate the use of the internet or web - based technologies. Newspaper advertisements, word-of-mouth, journal publication, flyers and pamphlets, and so forth are examples of this sort.

Benefits Of Offline Marketing

Get To People Without Internet: Undoubtedly, some people, such as those in the village or outskirts, do not have access to the Internet. Offline marketing techniques can help you reach out to these people.

High Trust: Individuals are likely to trust people they see in person rather than those they meet online. You feel more connected more with prospective customers and establish more credibility and trust by using traditional marketing techniques such as word-of-mouth.

Long Effect: Most of these internet adverts flash and disappear in seconds (like the one that usually appears at the beginning of YouTube videos), leaving no impact or impression on the viewer or customer. However, an offline technique such as a flyer or newspaper will continue to make the desired effect as long as the potential consumer still has them.

Drawbacks Of Offline Marketing

High Cost: You may need to print posters, make billboards, subscribe for newspaper columns, and even pay for the services of the individuals who will carry out these duties in order to organize offline marketing. All of this will add up to the ultimate marketing cost, which might be high.

Consumed Time & Energy: Take, for instance, the distribution of flyers; someone may spend the entire day distributing marketing fliers and may not leave their neighborhood; this will consume both his or her time and energy.

Limited Audience: Offline marketing is typically limited to a certain geographic area and may not be successful for reaching a global audience.

Which Is Better?

Well, depending on your financial capital and skills, both online and offline marketing techniques are really effective.

Going with an offline marketing strategy will cost money, unless you want to rely on word of mouth, which is extremely limited. Online marketing, on the other hand, necessitates a high level of understanding or knowledge of digital marketing, or you can hire professionals or specialists to do it for you.

Prior to joining Steemit, I worked as a marketing manager for Dodony Foods, a small firm that specializes in custard and crunchy bits manufacturing. As the marketing manager, I used both offline and online marketing techniques. For the offline, we canvassed the local and international markets, made custard, played music, and used the taste and buy method, in which people or passersby sampled the already made custard with milk and patronized us in return. We also distribute corporate fliers and posters to prospective customers. This offline marketing method was effective, but only in certain areas; certain people, particularly the wealthy, dislike patronizing in public or open spaces.

This is where the online technique comes in; we created Facebook and Instagram accounts, hired a professional to manage both accounts, and used this online marketing strategy to reach out to wealthy and infrequent customers. Customers began placing pre-orders for custards and crunchy bits via the company's social media accounts.

This technique, on the other hand, is exclusive to individuals who have internet connection or knowledge.

However, because my company uses both marketing techniques, we were able to reach a bigger audience; offline marketing techniques were used to reach local markets and rural areas, while internet marketing techniques were used to reach urban areas and digitally literate customers.

Conclusion

Now that we've seen the benefits and drawbacks of both online and offline marketing, it's worth noting that a company may use both and combine their strengths for a more effective marketing approach. One thing to keep in mind is that, as a business or service provider, you should concentrate on the ones that are best for you and that work for you.

Of course the difference is clear as you rightly explain, indeed online marketing is still the paramount as it expands the catchment area.
