Today we will talk about: Stolons!🌿

Happy and blessed day to many fans of plant care, we always love to be updated on how we can obtain more plants and it is that when a collector starts he can no longer stop.

Stolons are a rod-type reproduction method that by nature certain types of Succulents have, there are varieties, grafts and hybrids that are characterized by them. This time we will mention two species from our nursery.

Graptoveria Commonly known as "Jadeite"☝️

Graptoveria Commonly known as "Jadeite" is a hybrid succulent, this means that we obtain it through the genetic cross of a Graptopetalum macdougallii and an unknown Echeveria so far it has not been determined what it is, this species is characterized by the asexual reproduction of Stolons, For a time they confused it with the macdougallii due to its similar appearance, due to scientific advances it has been denied by positioning it as a hybrid, due to its high level of polypoid this means that it contains a variety of chromosomes that prevent knowing its second gender.

Graptoveria Commonly known as "Jadeite"☝️

This genus is characterized by being of direct light, very drained soil, moderate watering when the substrate indicates it, has a rosette shape, it is recommended to have it in a wide container so that the Stolons that are its Youngsters can take root without the need for cut them off, allowing them to stick off the ground on their own and start the cycle all over again.

Graptopetalum macdougallii☝️

Graptopetalum macdougallii known for being very proliferating means that they reproduce quickly, unlike other Succulents that are slow growing so if you start your collection this species is a good option. They grow with stems hidden under their foliage, they reproduce like the previous one by Stolons so we will have to give them a little space in the pot so that they can grow without problem, they are light green and elongated pointed leaves if we provide them with a good organic compost we will have flowers something beautiful.

We must provide good lighting so that they develop very well, if we have them in semi shade they also grow but we must provide them with good lighting open space, irrigation only when having dry and well-drained substrate the common of cacti and Succulents, their reproduction method is only by stolons or rods of Hijuelos.

Here we can see the result of the separation of two children of the same species mentioned using Stolons, an effective method for the division of succulents, I hope today our topic has moved as many as we wish you a happy day, see you in the next edition .

Hello @cactusgens , we are very happy that you share about the plants of your business, a nursery with a sample of the many changes that the plants can have, care and benefits of their care. Your recommendations are useful and the work they do is great. Every work that you have shown, is of importance. This shoot from the stem is quite interesting, because it is a means of reproduction in the plant.

The "Jadeite" reproduces through genetic crossing, this makes the plant much more interesting than what is shown with the naked eye. Much to learn friends, each day more impressed with their work and how dedicated they are, to take care of the plants and to offer a material of interest and care that always keeps them in good condition.

Now, with this method of reproduction that occurs with both plants mentioned, it turns out that the passion for plants becomes greater, with the image of the Graptopetalum macdougallii, you leave me surprised, a life that gives another life and reproduces widely, without the need to cut and transplant.

I like that you indicate us, the way in which we can differentiate it from other plants.
