This statement, in your first paragraph, should read "the new/novel coronavirus" and not mention pneumonia. You could also replace "novel coronavirus" with "SARS-CoV-2." While it is true that a large number of those who have died of CoViD-19 (COronaVIrus Disease 2019) also have pneumonia, the virus and pneumonia are not synonymous, nor are pneumonia and CoViD-19.

Which leads me to ask: In Cantonese or Mandarin, or other leading Tiongkok languages, is there an exact term for SARS-CoV-2?

Also, an amusing thing in the 2nd and last paragraphs is that "new coronavirus" was translated to "new crown virus." :)

On a personal note, how is the containment of the virus proceeding in Tiongkok? I hope that measures will be taken so that major viruses stop coming out of Tiongkok as, surely, the Tionghoa suffer first every time that happens.
