My photo in the contest tag "Traditional Symbol in Traditional Marriage" is timely following the just concluded contest in that series. Just some days ago I was in a traditional marriage at Ifa in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria (hope to give full digest in my next post) were I took this picture.

Usually when you travel round most part of Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria and you come across a plantain stand erected right in the middle of the road, you need not to bother asking what is happening except you a visitor from other part of the country or outside the country, this is because if you move further, you will see a traditional marriage going on.

The tender plantain erected in the middle of the road is a traditional way of notifying passerby and other road users that there is a traditional marriage going on within the vicinity. So if you care, you are cordially invited.

It also shows that the marriage is promising to be fruitful and full of God's blessing, just and the plantain use to produce much seed in its bounce. Although not everyone do accept this practise due to their spiritual stands and believe.
