Greetings to all the wonderful steemians in the house. It is indeed a blessing to be here among you today. I am here to share one of the amazing festival that's being celebrated yearly in my community. Before I proceed further, I do love to appreciate the entire leadership of @steemtravel community, for this amazing opportunity given to us to share one of our memorable events (festivals) in our community.

As we all know, every community is blessed with a unique culture and tradition. And festival celebration is part of every culture. festivals are one of the events that helps to strengthen the bond of unity among the members of a community. More to that, festivals helps to remind us to see each other as brothers and sisters. It also help to remind us of our origin or history of our forefathers.

Having highlighted some of the importance of festivals, I will be sharing with you one of the festival (miss mumuye) that was celebrated in my community (Mumuye) on 1st Aug,2022.

Before I proceed, I do love to tell you briefly about mumuye community. Mumuye community is one of the major communities in Taraba state Nigeria. The community is located in the northern part of the state, and we are considered to be one of the most populated community in the state. We have beautiful culture, and we celebrate different festivals in a year. Today, I will be sharing with you a festival that is referred to as miss mumuye festival. It is a festival that's being celebrated on every 1st August.

How miss mumuye festival is being celebrated

Miss mumuye festival is a festival, in which a lady who is considered to be the most beautiful of all the young and unmarried ladies in the community will be crowned miss mumuye.

Before the festival, all the young ladies in the community will be given an opportunity to contest for the position, through buying a form. After the form most have been sold, the community leaders will announce a day when all contestants, and all the young men in the community will gather at the kings palace to decide who wins the position.

Before deciding the winner, all the contestants would be allowed to appear on their best dress, and a stage would be set for them to display their beauty. After the winner most have been selected, the king would remind the people that the they will be a festival on 1st august, in order to celebrate the winner of miss mumuye.

In the festival, all the ladies will appear on cultural dress, and they will also dress themselves with some beads around their waist, and also around their head. The celebrant will also dress on cultural clothes, but her own beads is always different from other girls.

All the men will also appear on the same dress, and they will be putting on their arrow at the back. Some of the men, will be playing drums, while the ladies will be dancing.

After dancing and drinking, the king would stand to address the entire community, and finally present miss mumuye of the year to the community members. At the end, the elderly women in the community, will gather to pray and bless the miss mumuye.

Its actually an interesting celebration that each and every of the community member always love to experience.
