Culture Vulture Post | The Orinoco Festival in CBO

And this is just because our local festival in my city has started recently in this month of August, when river grows a lot and brings a delicious fish called Sapoara which is possible to find only in the mentioned Orinoco at this specific period, so it's such an unique tradition to organize attractive activities with many people gathering towards the Angostura Viewpoint (which is a typical aboriginal conical construction made out of wood) from the Orinoco Boulevard in order to watch fishers catching the abundance of fish and offered souvenirs plus services of all kind that makes this festival quite special. 🎣

Creative crafted things by talented people were shown in several tables among sweets, cakes or cookies, dolls, things made by carvers... Even the well known casabe, a thin cake made out of dried shredded yucca. A huge variety of stuff is possible to find easily here in the Orinoco festival. 🎏

But the main characters are the fish of course. So much that I couldn't avoid to hold a very big one that a man was having in his hands. I fell in love with it a lot, where I was even able to kiss for the sake of a great picture. 🖼️

There was a pair of aboriginal groups from our region called Kariña that were invited to make an exhibition of their ancestral dance and language, moreover of typical food they use to prepare. Their costumes with accessories and decorations over faces are visually outstanding, so I loved the moment when I took the opportunity to get some photographies of them posing for the cameras. Sadly, I couldn't be present for the inauguration with the oldest one telling some great words from a boat floating on the river and the Angostura bridge as an excellent background. 🌉

Kids can't get complain and have excuses for a boring journey in the festival because there are several actions to them through castles and cars as the ones I'm showing on the pictures. 🏰

I was surprised this time with the local governor and mayor because it's unusual to invest for a very modern public bathroom for everyone and I've to give them 10 points because beauty and cleanliness. Hope everyone can maintain it in excellent conditions beyond the date of this annual event. 🚽

Can't forget to mention the corps of security that were displayed after a massive caravan to inaugurate this iconic festival to keep everyone safe during the existence of this important month for the locality. Strategies of action were even done with a map of the zone to maintain the objective of the integrity for visitors. 🚓

So, you ought to come to this great festival in order to taste very delicious fish from our beloved river at the south of the country. My grandma that grew up in the coast said always that she would prefer marine fish but me, as a proud citizen of this awesome place would rather to choose to eat tasty fish from rivers, specially from this Big One like the magnetic Orinoco.
