[#club100] Creating an eco-friendly place to live

All of us steemians, every one of us would want to have a comfortable place to live for our family, where we spend most of our time at home, other than at work. The house, apart from being a place to live, also functions as a place where the educational process for our children begins. We as parents must strive to provide a comfortable and safe place to live for our children to provide education, both formal and non-formal education, including forming character and concern for others and the environment. I personally try to instill this character in my children by including it in my daily activities, both in planting and caring for flowers and plants, making ponds and feeding fish, taking care of pet chickens and so on. Usually children have a high curiosity about new things so they always want to participate in our activities which sometimes makes me overwhelmed, but I have to do it so that my child will have a good character, care for others and surrounding environment.

House which is a primary need besides food and clothing must be ensured that it is available even though it may not be the same size and cost depending on the income of each individual. The house does not have to be luxurious, but what is very important is that it can provide comfort and security for all family members. We certainly don't want to leave our children and wives in a house where the environment is bad, uncomfortable and dangerous for them when we work outside. Because it will affect our productivity at work and have a direct impact on them at home.

The above doesn't seem to have gone unnoticed by a state institution, namely the TNI (Indonesian National Army) which has implemented a policy to create a comfortable and safe environment for soldiers to live in productive in carrying out their duties.

I have a brother-in-law who is an active member of the TNI who currently lives in an army housing complex, namely Kodim Complex 0103/Aceh Utara located on Jalan Iskandar Muda Kampung Jawa, Lhokseumawe city. Kodim 0103/Aceh Utara is under the command of Korem 011 Lilawangsa which also oversees 8 other Military District Commands (Kodim) such as Kodim 0102/Pidie, Kodim 0104/Aceh Timur, Kodim 0106/Aceh Tengah, Kodim 0108/Aceh Tenggara, Kodim 0111 /Bireuen, Kodim 0113/Gayo Lues, Kodim 0117/Aceh Tamiang, and Kodim 0119/Bener Meriah.

The commander of Kodim 0103/Aceh Utara enforces policies and orders so that the military housing environment is arranged in such a way and planted with various plants such as flowers and other useful plants such as vegetables which are planted in pots and polybags, as well as nutritious plants (live pharmacies). The leadership will monitor and assess the creativity of soldiers and their families in following up on this directive and will summon and reprimand soldiers who ignore this directive.

As a result of this directive, the atmosphere of the military housing estate looks more beautiful and comfortable, even though the building is very simple and even old. Soldiers and their families compete to arrange their homes according to their creativity and hobbies. The thing that must be done is to plant various plants in front of their house. While others are adjusted to their respective hobbies so that there are those who keep chirping birds or make fish ponds. My brother-in-law made two fish ponds, each filled with consumption fish in the form of gourami which is located behind her house and a minimalist fish pond located on her terrace filled with ornamental fish.

My brother-in-law is also planting bidara trees and developing bidara seeds that can be sold which will certainly increase her income. His activities were captured by one of the local television networks, namely PujaTV, which made special coverage of my brother-in-law's activities.

With this directive from the head of the Kodim1030/North Aceh institution, the Kodim housing atmosphere looks more comfortable and certainly safe for soldiers and their families so that soldiers can serve optimally. We certainly understand the workload and risks of a soldier when carrying out his duties to defend the country. They sometimes have to risk their lives while carrying out military operations or other security tasks even when sent to a conflict-ridden operation area, leaving their wives and children at home for months. They will certainly be maximal in their duties if they are sure that their family is okay at home.

With the workload and risks experienced by a soldier on duty, it is not uncommon for them to experience pain both physically and mentally. I once knew a soldier who served at Kodim 0103/North Aceh who had been sick with symptoms of severe insomnia since 1996. The soldier who happened to be a friend of my brother-in-law had to undergo regular treatment at the Lhokseumawe Kesrem hospital and took sedatives and anti-depressants until now. Having a house or a comfortable living environment will certainly be very useful for soldiers who experience this type of psychological disorder, where we understand that the environment will have a significant impact on a person's mental health.

Based on the above, we can conclude that a comfortable and healthy environment is needed by every individual in carrying out their daily lives, one of which is to create an environmentally friendly place to live adapted to our respective conditions.
