Three months and still growing strong =/= Drei Monate und fast schon groß 👹🍣🎎 Wonderful Japan GER-ENG

It is growing. Since the planting, about three months have passed and since then, the many small rice seedlings have already gotten quite big. Seen from afar, a thick and dense green carpet now stretches over large parts of the lowlands, some of which just won't end. And even from close up, you can clearly see that someone here has already grown quite tall while at the same time not yet quite reached the end.

The rice still has about a month to go before it is harvested. And until then, the farmers are hoping for a few more weeks with high temperatures and lots of sunshine. We surely won't be short of heat, but somehow the rain this year has been a bit of a problem. First, the rainy season was much too short and already over at the end of June, but then it rained almost every day in the second half of July. And a few weeks ago we had some flood-like downpours, which hit some areas pretty hard. Not sure what will happen in August, but normally there would be a few weeks of pure sunshine. Unfortunately, the forecast looks quite different and suggests more rain.

But let's see what is coming. If everything goes well, we will still have a good rice harvest this year, because so far the small plants that were planted at the beginning of May have developed quite well and hopefully they will continue to do so. At the beginning of October, the freshly harvested rice should be on the tables and most people really anticipate this event quit a lot. Until then, we will continue to watch the rice growing..

Und er wächst und wächst. Seit der Auspflanzung sind nun rund drei Monate vergangen und seitdem sind die vielen kleinen Reispflanzlinge schon ordentlich groß geworden. Von weitem betrachtet erstreckt sich über große Teile des Tieflands nun ein dicker und dichter grüner Teppich, der teilweise gar nicht mehr enden will. Und auch von nahem kann man deutlich sehen, dass hier jemand schon ziemlich groß geworden und dabei auch noch nicht ganz am Ende angekommen ist.

Rund einen Monat hat der Reis noch, bis er geerntet wird. Und bis dahin erhoffen sich die Landwirte noch ein paar Wochen mit hohen Temperaturen und viel Sonnenschein. Und Hitze wird es woh nicht mangeln, aber irgendwie ist mit dem Regen dieses Jahr der Wurm drin. Zuerst war die Regenzeit viel zu kurz und bereits Ende Juni vorbei, aber dann regnete es die zweite Julihälfte dafür fast jeden Tag. Und vor ein paar Wochen kamen hier teils sinnflutartige Regenfälle runter, die einige Gegenden ziemlich arg getroffen haben. Wie es nun im August weitergeht ist offen, aber normalerweise würden nun ein paar Wochen Sonnenschein anstehen. Leider sieht die Vorhersage ganz anders aus und lässt eher auf noch mehr Regen schließen.

Aber lassen wir uns einfach überraschen, denn ändern können wir das Wetter von morgen leider noch nicht. Wenn alles gut geht, wird es dieses Jahr trotzdem eine gute Reisernte geben, denn bisher haben sich die kleinen Pflänzchen, die Anfang Mai gesetzt wurden ganz ordentlich entwickelt und so wird es doch bitte auch noch weitergehen. Anfang Oktober sollte dann der frisch geerntete Reis auf den Tischen stehen ,noch ein wenig vor sich hin dampfem und dann mit großen Appetit verspeist werden. So wird es doch hoffentlich auch in diesem Jahr kommen...
