On the way home I could see it with my own eyes, and now there is no doubt! The cherry trees are beginning to bloom. Slowly and still somewhat tentatively the first flowers open and show their white or even pink dress. A few more warm days and then we will be surrounded by so much beauty that we can not stop marveling and raving.

I'm looking forward to it, and I hope that I will have enough time to enjoy this spectacle. And that the weather, i.e. the rain, doesn't spoil our plans.

Most of the trees do not have leaves yet, except for some special species, like the mountain cherry (Yama-Sakura), which forms its leaves together with the flowers and is a very early bloomer. A great tune-up for what is to come.

Auf dem Weg nach Hause konnte ich es mit meinen eigenen Augen feststellen, und es gibt nun keine Zweifel mehr! Die Kirschbäume fangen an zu blühen. Langsam und noch etwas zöglich öffnen sich die ersten Blüten und zeigen ihr weißes oder auch rosa Kleid. Noch ein paar warme Tage und dann werden wir von so viel Schönheit umgeben sein, dass wir aus dem Staunen und Schwärmen gar nicht mehr heraus kommen.

Ich freu ich schon, und hoffe sehr, dass ich genug Zeit haben werde, dieses Spektakel auch ordentlich zu genießen. Und das uns nicht das Wetter, sprich der Regen einen Strich durch die Rechnung macht.

Noch haben die meisten Bäume auch noch keine Blätter, bis auf einige besondere Arten, wie die Berg-Kirsche (Yama-Sakura), die ihrer Blätter zusammen mit den Blüten bildet und ein ganz früher Blüter ist. Eine tolle Einstimmung auf das, was noch folgen wird.
