Cooking and eating outside is fun for most people, and happy are therefore those who have a garden and in the summer can always dine in front of their house. But even without a garden, with a little preparation and improvisation, you can quickly move meal time outside the front door or even a little further away. In Japan, there are some parks that offer special public barbecue areas and those are even in a very clean condition.

But we are usually drawn a little further, directly to the water. The best place to prepare and eat food in pleasant company is by the sea. Some may set up their barbecue here and start grilling in the old way. But I rather prefer an open fire, and if you have a suitable grid, you can prepare a lot of things on it.

Building the fireplace is in itself fun and a little adventure, and already provides the first appetite. Running up the beach and looking for suitable firewood is simply part of the game and is the perfect way to get in the mood for what's to come....

Draußen zu kochen und draußen zu essen macht den meisten Menschen Spaß und glücklich sind daher die, die einen Garten haben und im Sommer immer zu vor dem Haus dinieren können. Aber auch ohne Garten kann man mit ein wenig Vorbereitung und Improvisation schnell das gemeinsame Essen vor die Haustür verlegen oder sogar noch etwas weiter weg. In Japan bieten sich da insbesondere einige Parks an, die öffentliche Grillstellen anbieten und dabeo sogar in einem recht reinlichen Zustand daherkommen.

Aber uns zieht es meist noch etwas weiter, bis direkt ans Wasser. Am Meer ist einfach des beste Ort, um in angenehmer Gesellschaft sein Essen zuzubereiten und danach zu verzehren. Die einen mögen hier ihren Grill aufbauen und in altbekannter Tradition zu grillen anfangen. Ich bevorzuge da aber eher ein offenes Feuer, auf dem man mit einem passenden Grillrost auch so einiges zubereiten kann.

Das Aufbauen der Feuerstelle ist an sich schon ein Spaß und ein kleines Abenteuer, und sorgt bereits für den ersten Appetit. Den Strand anlaufen und passendes Brennholz finden gehört einfach dazu und ist die perfekte Einstimmung, auf das, was noch kommt....

The fire quickly started to blaze and the cooking area set up next to it was then swiftly moved a little closer. This time we had brought along a frying pan and also the ingredients for our dinner were already prepared and partly even pre-cut.

Das Feuer hat dann auch schnell gelodert und die daneben aufgebaute Kochstelle wurde dann schnell noch etwas näher herangerückt. Wir hatten uns diesmal eine Bratpfanne mitgebracht und auch die Zutaten für unser Abendessen waren bereits vorbereitet und zum Teil sogar vorgeschnitten.

The fire quickly developed a good heat and now meat, vegetables and also a few fried noodles were sizzling in the pan. The background of our outdoor kitchen was just perfect. Sand, sun and sea - what could be better?!

Das Feuerchen hat schnell eine gute Hitze entwickelt und nun brutzelten in der Pfanne Fleisch, Gemüse und auch ein paar Bratnudeln. Der Hintergrund unser Outdoor-Küche war wieder einmal perfekt. Sand, Sonne und Meer - was kann es schon Besseres geben?!

Of course, we could hardly wait to finally get started, because now it also smelled so nice from the frying pan and our mouths were already watering. The Yakisoba, as this dish was called in Japan, were now ready and all of use liked them very much. Due to our appetite, which you get almost automatically here on the beach, nothing was left over and we finished everything.

Wir konnten es natürlich kaum erwarten, endlich anzufangen, denn nun duftete es auch aus der Bratpfanne und uns lief bereits das Wasser im Mund zusammen. Die Yakisoba, wie dieses Gericht in Japan genannt wurden, waren nun auch fertig und hatten uns sehr gemundet. Übrig geblieben ist nichts, dafür hatte unser Appetit, den man hier am Strand fast automatisch bekommt, schon gesorgt.

Our little fire and our cooking performance here on the beach was a great idea, and everyone present enjoyed it very much. We can hardly wait for the next chance to do it again, maybe then there will be baked potatoes. It was just harvest time and we now have a box of fresh potatoes at home. Sounds like a good plan, doesn't it....

Unser Feuerchen und unsere Kocheinlage hier am Strand war wirklich mal wieder ein super Einfall gewesen, und alle Anwesenden hatten wirklich ihren Spaß gehabt. Wir können auch das nächste Mal kaum abwarten, vielleicht gibt es dann mal wieder gebackene Kartoffeln. Es war ja gerade Erntezeit und wir haben nun eine Kiste mit frischen Kartoffeln zu Hause zu stehen. Klingt doch wie ein guter Plan, oder nicht....
