Distribution of Zakat Fitrah in My Village

Zakat fitrah is an obligation for every Muslim. As the author explained earlier, the community of Gampong Matang Puntong as a whole is Muslim who always adheres to the teachings of Islam. In matters of worship, including zakat fitrah, the people of Gampong Matang Puntong always carry it out.
The awareness of the people of Gampong Matang Puntong regarding the obligation to issue zakat fitrah is relatively high, because it has become a custom at the end of every month of Ramadan before Eid al-Fitr in Gampong Matang Puntong identical to paying zakat fitrah. So that they welcome the coming of Eid al-Fitr by paying zakat fitrah.

The distribution of zakat fitrah in Gampong Matang Puntong is carried out in several ways, one of which is through the zakat committee (amil) at Meunasah Amil in Gampong Matang Puntong is a group in charge of managing zakat issues (zakat fitrah).
The zakat committee (amil) in Matang Puntong Village was chosen by Imum Gampong as the chairman of the amil as well as the person in charge of religious matters including the collection and distribution of zakat fitrah in a village. In the distribution of zakat fitrah, the committee (amil) does not collect zakat from muzakki but only announces, receives and accommodates, and distributes zakat proceeds from muzakki who pay zakat through the zakat committee (amil) in Meunasah.

In receiving zakat fitrah at Gampong Matang Puntong, the committee first gave announcements or directions to the community so that in the implementation of zakat fitrah as far as possible it was conveyed through the committee at least one part of each family head and the rest could be submitted directly to mustahik. Starting the night of 27 Ramadan, the zakat fitrah committee received zakat from muzakki by taking place in Meunasah as a center for worship and community activities in the village of Matang Puntong, which is strategically located in the middle of the village.

Regarding the choice of the residents of Matang Puntong Village in distributing their zakat fitrah, the author interviewed several residents as muzakki including Mr. Abdulllah, who said that he and his family always issue zakat fitrah every night of Eid al-Fitr. He added that part of his zakat was given directly to the entitled (poor) and part of it was given to the teacher of his child's study hall and half was given to the zakat committee in Meunasah.

Unlike the case with other muzakki, namely Mr. Azhari, he always issues zakat fitrah through the committee (amil) in Meunasah because through the committee at Meunasah, zakat fitrah will reach those who are entitled evenly without anything being missed. He added that the committee is the person who knows more about zakat issues and if there is an error it is the responsibility of the committee and the Gampong Imum.

In addition to the zakat fitrah distribution model that the author mentioned above, there are also families who distribute all their zakat fitrah themselves to mustahik, as stated by Mr. Ishak, he handed over his zakat fitrah quota of 4 people to his child's recitation teacher because he believed it was more targeted because the recitation teacher was classified as the poor and as a form of respect for the recitation teacher compared to handing it over to the committee at Meunasah which according to him is not appropriate in distributing zakat fitrah, because rich people in Gampong also get zakat fitrah from Meunasah.

From the results of the author's interview above, it can be explained that there are three models in the distribution of zakat fitrah carried out by the residents of Gampong Matang Puntong where some residents submit all their zakat fitrah to the committee at Meunasah on the eve of Eid al-Fitr, there are also those who hand over all their zakat fitrah themselves to mustahik. without going through the committee and there are some residents who choose to give some of their zakat fitrah through the committee at Meunasah and some of it is handed over by themselves, usually the zakat fitrah share of their children is handed over by the child himself to the Teungku Balai Pengjian.

Regarding the distribution of zakat fitrah in Matang Puntong Village, Samudera Subdistrict, as stated in the provisions of the Koran, it is explained that there are eight asnaf who are entitled to receive zakat fitrah. However, in Ujong Village, basically there are only four asnaf, namely the indigent, the poor, the zakat committee (amil) and gharim (people who have debts).

In Gampong Matang Puntong, there is no fundamental difference between the poor and the poor. In essence, both of them are underprivileged or unable to fulfill their daily needs. After all zakat fitrah from residents is collected on the eve of Eid al-Fitr, then the committee (amil) immediately goes to work distributing the zakat fitrah according to the number of family heads in Gampong Matang Puntong after deducting the committee's work costs (amil)
