In refunding the remaining money from purchases at modern markets and supermarkets, the supermarket manager also experienced difficulties, namely the difficulty in providing small denominations so that the supermarket was finally forced to fulfill the remaining money from the purchase or replace it with other goods such as candy at the same price as the remaining money. the money back. Even though in this case the supermarket has tried its best to be able to provide small denominations, such as exchanging it at the bank, buskers, beggars, hawkers, parking attendants, charity box managers. However, sometimes supermarkets are still unable to provide small denominations in full due to the large need for small change, so they have to fulfill and replace them with other items such as candy.

When viewed from the fiqh rules relating to the difficult conditions above, the fulfillment of the remaining money from purchases at supermarkets is allowed in fiqh. Because the condition of the scarcity of loose change was indeed an unnatural difficulty (ghairu mutadah), this was also strengthened even though he had tried various ways to get small money, either by exchanging it with Bank Indonesia or other parties, but it still could not meet the needs. So that in this situation the supermarket manager can be given a dispensation (rukhsah).

The difficult situation experienced by the supermarket can be classified as difficulty ghairu mutadah, namely difficulties that are not in the habit where humans are not able to endure the difficulties, and if viewed from the level, these difficulties are included in the level of difficulty mutawasitah, namely difficulties that are in the middle. - the middle between the heavy and the light, where the severity of the difficulty depends on human presuppositions.

For supermarkets that have provided payment facilities with credit or debit cards, this is not a problem. But it's different for supermarkets that still use cash payments. This creates a new problem, because supermarkets must be able to provide small denominations or loose change which will later be used as change.

Currently the circulation of change has decreased, making it difficult to obtain. This is a classic problem that must be faced by entrepreneurs who are engaged in retail. For the sake of good service to consumers, especially in terms of change, the manager of the modern supermarket is still trying to provide loose change which is used to refund the remaining purchase, even though it is in small amounts. limited.

The supermarket management is apparently not clueless, when times are difficult to find small denominations or when they do not have a supply of small denominations, they give certain items such as candy as an alternative to the remaining money for purchases given to their customers. This replacement of the remaining purchase money (money return) with candy also occurred due to unavoidable difficulties.

As a result of these difficulties, the supermarket manager may take rukhsah, and one form of this relief (rukhsah) is to replace the remaining money for purchases with items of value such as candy, so that the practice of replacing the remaining money from purchases with other goods such as sweets in modern markets and supermarkets which commonly occurs due to the limited supply of loose change is allowed under sharia economic law.

If you look closely at the replacement of the remaining purchase (money return) with this candy, there are also new buying and selling contracts or additional buying and selling contracts. Because by replacing the remaining money from the purchase with candy, it means that the buyer has also bought the candy, so that the sale and purchase contract occurs twice, namely the first is a sale and purchase agreement for the goods that are desired and chosen by the buyer and the second is a sale and purchase contract. of candy or other goods as a substitute for money (money return). The second law of the sale and purchase agreement mentioned above is permissible in muamalah fiqh. The two buying and selling contracts which generally occur in modern markets, retail and supermarkets are included in the sale and purchase of al-Muatah which is allowed by the majority of scholars.

As the author has mentioned above, the practice of replacing money (money return) with other goods in buying and selling is common everywhere. For some people, they have considered this as something that is natural and understandable so that they do not question it, so that it can show the fulfillment of the element of mutual pleasure in buying and selling, so that the replacement of money (money return) in the sale and purchase is according to the law of muamalah (sharia economics). ) is allowed.
