Announcing the Hive Chess Blitz Tournament, Friday 20h GMT, plus Logo Contest!

in The Chess Community4 years ago (edited)

Dear chess friends!

Since @schamangerbert keeps the Steemchess tournaments on the Steem Chain, why not run on the Hive Chain a separate weekly Blitz chess tournament?
All players from Steemchess are of course welcome, this is not a competition to Steemchess, but an added opportunity to play more chess (one can not play enough chess, right?)!

This logo I made from scratch (using the free Hive wallpaper (can´t find a link now)) but if you have a good idea for a better one, put it in the comments, I would give out 3 Hive Token and 3 PATRIOT Token (worth app. 1 Steem each) to the most convincing design!

Each round is a lichess one hour tournament, so you need a lichess-account in order to participate! Registration is done in no time (you just need a valid email address for verification).

Here I will add the link to the tournament 1 hour before the start:

RULES

  • Free for players of all skill levels, from newbie to expert!
  • Every Friday 20 to 21 GMT is one round, the tournament goes over several rounds
  • Time mode for now is 5+0 (so you have 5 minutes per game!), rated, berserking allowed
  • The tournament is open (for all, not only Hivers or Steemians)
  • 90% of the payouts of my Hive chess-related posts will be added to the price pool and shared among the players who are on Steem or Hive, final decision on the exact mode will be posted later - ideas/suggestions are more than welcome!
  • The rules may adapt depending on your feedback, let´s see how it evolves

I would really appreciate, if you could share this announcement among your (chess) friends and colleagues!
The more participate, the more fun!

And don´t forget, chess is so easy! All you have to do is:
"Play the opening like a book, the middle game like a magician, and the endgame like a machine."
(quote from Rudolf Spielmann(*1883–†1942), Austrian chess master)

From the standpoint of a chess trainer I see that you want to flag weaker players in every game be having no increment. So I see this tournament as preferred to stronger players, the weaker ones will not have to much of fun, but lets see how it works out.

For getting @jaki01 in you need to change it to 3+0 :) He will flag you all!

I try to stream it live as usual! As player or as spectator, I will see.

The times have changed to summer time now.

I know it is a difference to the games with increment, but I didn´t want to make a direct copy cat. 3+0 would put off too many players. Maybe every second time we can 5+2, let´s see.
Would be awesome if you could stream it. I am not familiar with those things.
Thanks for mentioning the summer time, I had missed that!

Deine Zeitangaben sind verwirrend. UTC+1 ? was bedeutet das?

I clicked link and "tournament does not exists"

Yes, I postponed it by one hour. Got confused with the timezones. Will start same local time as the Steemchess tournament. So it is hopefully easier for all. Sorry!

So it starts in 90 minures from now ,yes?
