RE: Chess problem 78 / Schachaufgabe 78

in The Chess Community4 years ago

I am happy that I am declared the winner of this round :-) One additonal note however: seems to me that it could be quite difficult for black to win the endgame even after queening on a1. In Order to win the game black has to include the king. When doing so White could use the time to advance his own pawns, e.g. b3-b4-b5 and so on. What do you think about that?

Sort:

What I did, is to enter the end position into ChessX (with Stockfish as analysis engine), and it seemed that the evaluation of the black position keeps increasing, which is not a proof but a hint that probably black should win.

If you like and have the necessary time just analyze it further.

Thanks for this very beautiful endgame quiz with an amazing winning move in line b) (2. ... Bd4!)!
