Motherhood, Oil Pastels on Paper, 2016

A few of the dimensions are off on this one, but I like the concept. I wish I had had the skills at the time to pull it off well. I don’t know whether to think it’s a relaxing picture or to be disturbed by all the errors. I was definitely getting the hang of oil pastels, even if it still looks a lot like coloring with crayons.

Maybe I'll just enjoy it for the subject matter. The "models" are my wife and daughter. Or maybe my son. I don't remember! Either way it was always sweet to watch them sleep together. Cosleeping has many benefits, and one of them is the fact that you get to wake up to sweet moments like this.

The only problem is, we still have a five year old (and frequently a seven year old as well) in our bed with us! When will the boy leave and find his own place to sleep?!

College... Probably college...

I’m posting every painting I have ever done from 2014 to the present, the good, the bad, and the ugly. With an occasional photograph or sketch thrown in just to mix things up. Check back daily to see my progression as an “artist”!
