Good evening everyone in the community and in steemit at large. It is already the last week of season 3 of the engagement challenge. I am glad to participate in this very challenge. I hope everyone are enjoying this topic and are excited about it.

What is gender?

Gender refers to sex, male or female, a man or a woman, a boy or a girl.

Gender role is view differently depending on the country, tribes and individual preferences. Gender role is one of the topics that causes a lot of misconceptions among many. And people have their reasons for prefering a particular gender to another.
Lets now find out the roles of various genders.

Does gender play a role in our everryday life?

Gender play important role in our everyday life. There are some work for specific gender. The male gender is often given strenuous task while the female gender is given a lesser task to do. The reason is that male are stronger than female.

In the kitchen the male gender will be given pounded yam to pound while the female gender can be given pepper 🌶 to pound.

There are also some tasks that is done by both male and female.

In my country there are task that is forbidden to be done by a female gender.
Such tasks are; claming of palm tree 🌴 , coconut tree 🥥 , mango trees and so on. If a female gender is got performing such task, she will sanctioned (penalised).

The position of a gatekeeper, night security, and commercial drivers were always performed
by male gender, but sad to say that because of the high rate of unemployment in my country, the female gender are doing such jobs now.
Gender has really played a major role in our everyday life.

How does the roles or functions in your country differ from gender to gender?

In my country, the role of a male gender differs from the role of a female gender.

Starting with the family circle, the male gender (Father) is the head of the family and the breadwinner of the family. He is expected to provide for his family, make major decisions in the family.

The female gender (Mother) role is to care for the family which includes; cooking, washing, keeping the house clean and tidy while caring for the kids too. She is expected to report to the father anything that happens in the family. In my country, the female gender is not expected to make decisions for the family without the consent of the husband.
The female gender is expected to be subjected to the male gender and support the male gender in the decisions he makes.

In my country it is the duty of the male gender to propose to the female gender that he wants to marry. It is seen as out of place for a female gender to proposed to a male gender.

In my country, the male gender pays a fat some of money to the family of the female gender he want to marry, such money is called bride price. It is forbidden for the female gender to pay groom price for the family of the male gender that wants to marry her.

Is it the same for other countries?

---

From what I have mentioned earlier above, the functions are not the same in other countries.
In my country Nigeria, It unthinkable for the female gender to propose to the male gender while in other countries it is not like that. Female gender proudly and comfortably proposed to a male gender without any issues.

Like I mentioned earlier that bride price is paid by the male gender to the family of the female gender. The payment of bride price is not the same across the countries of the world. For instance, in India, the female gender family pays for the groom price to the groom's family.

In many countries of the world there are alot of maternal breadwinner. Example is that of European countries, two out of three women are the breadwinner of the family.

There are also similarities in some gender roles meaning that the difference is not much from other countries of the world.

What about Steemit?

Here in steemit, the role and functions of male and female gender remain the same. There is no difference which I so much appreciate steemit and the steemit team for that. Talking about country representatives, there and both gender occupying such role. What about community curators?.
Steemit do not discriminate, they gives the role to both genders as long as the person is dedicated enough and is seen fit for the work.

In Steemit, both gender receives support and some special offices like greeters, professors of the Steemit Crypto Academy and so on.

Both male and female gender plays an important role in our daily life. We need to appreciate and support both gender.
Total support and appreciation to the opposite gender will help in our day to day life and life itself will be meaningful.
