Are we moving forward with the Steem Solar Project In Nigeria?

"Maybe it’s taking longer than expected, but trust me, it is better to start than never".

Those were the few lines I could remember from one of my lecturers Mr. Okorie ,some years back during my University days.

Maybe that saying has come to play. In what sense, you may ask…? Well, it is in the sense of the ongoing steem solar Project in Nigeria.

Maybe it’s taking a long time but you should also remember that it has already started and that’s the good part, and the fundraising is moving forward, even though we are still lacking.

So far, there has been some good turn up from different donors and the steemit team is giving some great support to realize this. I want to use this medium to sincerely say, thank you for all the support, they are all appreciated.

As you could recall, some months ago a hashtag was introduced to help track publications that set percentages to support this project in Nigeria voluntarily through the @smilenigeria account.

Though it has become my everyday doings to check for publications using that hashtag, I still did it today and I found some interesting publications, perhaps, you could also check them as well, you won't regret it.

As an update, it will also interest you to know that the already installed steem solar is still working and the community members are still benefiting even though it is not efficient as it should be due to the rainy season, the battery doesn’t last due to less sunlight, however, the upgrade is needed in other to serve better as we are experiencing rainy season in Nigeria presently.

Before now, the system runs for roughly 15 hours daily due to much sunlight back then, but now…sometimes, it’s less than that hour due to many charging loads from Members of the community. The amount of energy produced each day is roughly 700watt or less, which is not enough to charge some beneficiary's gadgets (Members of the Community), and the amount used each day in kWh is around 10.5 kWh.

What do we Need?

Right now we have about 1200 steem, but we are still having a shortage of 800 steem to carry out this Steem solar upgrade. 2000 steem is what we need altogether. You can read more about that through the smilenigeria page which was updated this morning.

The world smile international team also echoes it through the publication entitled: Help Nigeria Solar PV STEEM Project Development Budget Deficit published by @irawandedy.

At this point, we need more support from donors in other to realize this project.

Let's keep supporting the solar PV project in Nigeria.

Providing sustainable Electricity to the community is something of high value to the members of the community since the public electricity distribution is not efficient.

And more so, it will help highlight the steem and steemit platform to more potential investors. Thank you for your attention...*
