Contest of Local Culture and Traditions || New Year Epke Culture Festival
Hello greetings to you all and my special greeting gos to the community and to our big ADMIN @irawandedy that have been trying his best to the growth of steemit and also to the growth of #steemforbetterlife community and I also thank and greet all the MOD for there efforts seeing that the community is growing very well with good content and contest that people always participate in them.
First I will like to introduce myself before everyone because many people will participate in this wonderful contest, so I have to do this for them to know me before my participation contest writing.
It's a pleasure to introduce my self before you guys, as it is I am @successjoh as you all will know me today and I am a Nigerian🇳🇬 and I reside in the city of Abia State.
As I came across this contest some hours back I fill so happy because I love some of this cultural things and I also have some little writing about this contest, because I normally attend many of my L.G.A cultural festival more especially when it comes in teams of my village festival I don't even joke with it because I always fill happy when it comes.
So as I saw this beautiful contest I went to my phone gallery and saw that my village cultural festival pictures are with me and I decided to join you guys in sharing about my community culture festival, in today contest writing I will like to explain about this my village culture festival, I humble myself and hope that I am welcome friend's to join in today contest writing.
This is known as EPKE festival in lgbo language, EPKE culture festival as i use to know it and my village people always do this every new year January and it always brings population of people's on that day when it will partake in my village market square, there is always one masquerade which is the man of the day who will cut a big goat 🐐 once with one ✋, when ever he reas his hand up some one will give him a sharp machete 🗡️ to do his work by cutting the neck of the goat once, after he cut the neck of it group of boys will try there best to pick the neck of the goat because anyone that succeed in picking the goat head the community will give him a big money like 10,000 Naira which is equivalent to 65.4 steem, and the masquerade will go back home and pull of the the masquerade cloth and come to the village market square to dance for people which they will give him a lot of money because he did a great work but when he field to cut the goat head once the people will bite him and after that he will buy another goat back to the village people and also give them money because he has brought shame to the community.
The EPKE culture festival will also be taking place every year till the masquerade cut goat 7 times which is 7 years before he take his hand of from cutting goat and another person will take over from where he stopped.
