My Favorite Sport - Badminton

Sport is a physical activity that involves physical effort, competition, and skill. I grew up in a residential area and we got two huge playgrounds to connect with some sports activities. I also got an amazing friend circle who loves to take part in various sports activities. This helps me a lot to play a few games with friends and I am quite good at some particular games like Football, Cricket
and Badminton.


My favorite sport is Badminton

We play three popular games in Asia and they are football, cricket, and badminton. Among these sports, Badminton is my favorite. Though we play Badminton in the winter season, I love to play this game over the year.

But it's difficult to play badminton in the summer or rainy season. Moreover, we have no indoor facilities. So we can continue playing badminton in just the winter season. November to February is the suitable season for playing badminton.

There is less possibility to experience any injury while playing this game and this sport is not so time-consuming. These are some reasons to choose badminton as a favorite sport.


Badminton- Equipment and Basic Rules to play

Badminton is a popular sport activity that can be performed by two (one player on each side) or four players (two players on both sides). Here are the basic steps to get started with playing badminton:

Badminton Rackets

Equipment: You will need a badminton racket and shuttlecock (also called a birdie or shuttle or feather), and a badminton court or a suitable area to play. We have several badminton playgrounds in our area. We prepare our playgrounds in winter. For the past two seasons, we are playing badminton on our tennis court. So we had not prepared our court in the soil ground.

Learn the rules: Try to introduce yourself to the rules of the game, such as how to serve, how to score points, and how to play each shot. You can watch YouTube videos to learn the basic rules of playing Badminton.

Warm-up: Before starting the game, it's important to warm up your muscles by stretching or doing some light exercises. It will help you to play the game with confident body movement.

Serving: The service is used to start each rally. Stand in the right service court if your score is even or in the left service court if it's odd. Serve the shuttle diagonally over the net to the opponent's service court. The shuttlecock must touch the line of the opponents or may remain inside the first court.

Rally: The objective of the game is to hit the shuttle back and forth over the net, and make it land inside the opponent's court without them being able to return it.

Scoring: You will score a point when the shuttle lands inside your opponent's court, and your opponent fails to return the shuttle or may he hit the shuttle in the net.

Winning: A game is won by the player or team who wins the best of three sets, with each set being played for up to 21 points according to the situation of the game. It's an international rule. Locally we play one or two games with each team.

Practice: Like any sport, practice is important to improve your skills and technique and you can play like a professional if you practice more and more. Try to find a partner or a group to play with regularly and always try to play with your favorite partner, that can help you to make a good bonding.

Benefits that I get from the sport

Playing badminton offer us many physical and mental benefits. Playing badminton involves continuous movements of our body, which helps improve heart and lung function, and can lower the risk of cardiovascular disease. I was a bit lazy before playing badminton but when the season started I got some physical activities to perform. Benefit That I get from badminton-

Increased agility and coordination: Badminton requires a lot of quick reflexes, footwork, and hand-eye coordination. Playing regularly can improve my agility, balance, and overall body coordination.

Builds muscle strength: Badminton involves me using muscles in the body, including the arms, legs, and core. Playing regularly can help build strength in these muscles.

Weight loss: Playing badminton can help burn calories and aid in weight loss. A person can burn calories while playing badminton. I didn't check my weight recently, but I am sure that I lost weight and it was necessary for me.

Bone density: The high-impact nature of badminton can help improve bone density, especially in the legs, reducing the risk of osteoporosis.

Improved flexibility: The different movements required in badminton can help improve flexibility, as it involves stretching and reaching for the shuttlecock.

Reduces stress: Exercise, including badminton, can help reduce stress and release endorphins, which are the body's natural mood enhancers. While playing badminton I get busy with the game, my brain remains active in the game. It keeps anxiety away from me. Moreover, it's enjoyable to play badminton with friends.

Overall, playing badminton is a fun and challenging way to stay active and improve my physical health.


Some tips to make sports activities fun

Sports activities can be made fun by implementing the following tips:

Find a sport that you enjoy: The first step to making sports activities fun is to find a sport that you enjoy a lot. Try out various sports activities and find one that you look forward to playing or which sport you feel comfortable to play with.

Try to play with friends: Playing sports with friends can make your activity more social and enjoyable. You can also organize some friendly competitions for fun.

Mix up the activities: To avoid boringness and monotony, switch up the types of sports activities you engage in. For instance, if you usually play cricket, you can also try playing football or badminton.

Set goals: Try to set a goal for yourself or your team can make sports activities more exciting by winning the games. Try to learn a new skill, improve your skills, try to beat your previous best score or work towards winning a championship.

Reward yourself: Treat yourself or your team to a reward after achieving a goal or milestone. This could be a small treat like a snack or a team outing.

Make it inclusive: Try to build a friendly connection with everyone. Don't neglect anyone while playing. Try to encourage your teammates. Make sure everyone feels included and welcome in the sports activity. This can help create a positive and fun atmosphere.

By implementing these tips, we can make sports activities fun, more friendly, and enjoyable for ourselves, and others.

you have well define the badminton game and make a well connection with physical fitness. i also love to play these games . but we don not have such types of playgrounds. but also responsive friends are a basic requirement. because in my side mostly boys are stuck in educational and job activities.
